Job Description

Basic Job Functions: The Production Coater Technician I is an intermediate position responsible for the beginning of the manufacturing process including the “coating” application of the semiconductor. The core functions include safely operating equipment, managing materials and processes to produce high-quality photovoltaic solar modules, conducting preventative maintenance, addressing alarms, performing quality control, using hand tools and systems, and training upon certification.

Education and Experience:

  • External candidates require a High School Diploma or GED; preference for an Associate degree or technical certificate.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience or relevant experience in warehousing, textiles, agriculture, material inspection, or honorable military service in relevant fields.
  • Internal candidates need a High School Diploma or GED, 60 credits in manufacturing-related training or equivalent experience, endorsement from supervisor, and positive performance ratings.

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Safety-minded approach.
  • Commitment to quality.
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Teamwork, communication skills, familiarity with computer applications.
  • Ability to operate machine control panels, use communication devices, hand tools, and measurement tools.
  • Ability to perform light mechanical maintenance, work in large manufacturing spaces, and obtain forklift certification if required.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Follow safety procedures and maintain good housekeeping.
  • Operate and maintain equipment safely.
  • Complete training timely and provide on-the-job training when needed.
  • Perform maintenance and operate forklifts/certified equipment.
  • Collaborate with teams, monitor processes, escalate issues, and report data.
  • Manage inventory and waste disposal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships:

  • No direct reports.

Travel:

  • Extended training in other plants may be required; occasional travel for training.

Salary Range: $17.84 - $25.00/hourly

Physical Requirements:

  • Long hours standing, climbing stairs, lifting weights, using protective equipment, and visual acuity requirements.
