Job summary

Blue Origin in Van Horn, TX, is seeking a Precision Cleaning Technician to support the Propulsion/Integrated Supply Chain lab. You will perform precision cleaning, passivation, inspection, testing, and final packaging of aerospace hardware.

Roles include using solvents, hydrostatic testing, equipment calibration, and maintaining a clean room, with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and reliability to enable spaceflight programs.

Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and operate lifting equipment.
  • Reliable with good verbal and written communication and ability to interface with software systems.
  • Willing to work a production rotation: 8 days on, 6 days off (Mon–Sun, 7:00 am–5:30 pm).
  • U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S. per export control.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and passivate hardware using solvent/chemical, mechanical, ultrasonic methods.
  • Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic testing of tubing, piping, and components.
  • Disassemble, inspect, rebuild, and test components.
  • Safely handle hardware using overhead cranes and lifting equipment.
  • Use titration and direct measurement methods to analyze lab solvent systems.
  • Identify hardware features per technical documentation.
  • Inspect hardware using visual inspection, UV light, borescope, particle count, and precision weighing.
  • Perform shop-level maintenance and calibration of equipment.
  • Conduct general housekeeping of lab and clean room.
  • Follow safety regulations and wear PPE.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance, and Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. This position will require your commitment and attention to detail towards safe and repeatable space flight, with a goal of lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin’s vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth.

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of technicians, you will primarily perform precision cleaning of aerospace components, including inspection, disassembly, cleaning, verification of cleanliness, reassembly, operational testing, leak check, and final packaging. You will contribute to propulsion module, engine, and sub-assembly manufacturing. The Cleaning, Passivation, and Verification Lab is a critical part of the company\'s Integrated Supply Chain.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and passivate hardware using solvent/chemical, mechanical, ultrasonic, and precision cleaning methods.
  • Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic testing of tubing, piping, and components for acceptance.
  • Disassemble, inspect, rebuild, and test components.
  • Safely handle hardware utilizing overhead cranes, hoists, and related lifting equipment.
  • Use titration and other direct measurement methods to analyze and correct lab solvent/chemical systems.
  • Identify hardware features per technical documentation.
  • Inspect hardware using visual inspection, ultraviolet light, borescope, microscopic particle count, and high-precision weighing methods.
  • Perform shop-level maintenance and calibration of equipment such as pumps, tanks, and filtration systems.
  • Conduct general housekeeping of the lab and certified clean room area.
  • Follow safety regulations and wear protective eyewear, steel-toe boots, and other applicable personal protective equipment.

Our team is a direct supplier to all Blue Origin business units and supports New Shepard, New Glenn, Blue Moon, and Blue Engines programs. The Launch Site One Cleaning, Passivation, and Verification team provides a crucial, integrated service across four Blue Origin sites.

Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and drive to resolve technical issues.
  • Ability to lift items up to 40 lbs and use lifting equipment for heavier hardware.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to follow directions, and reliability in meeting expectations.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to interface with software systems, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to support one of the following production work schedules: 8 days on, 6 days off rotation (Mon–Sun, 7:00 am – 5:30 pm).
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired
  • Prior experience in precision cleaning of aerospace, medical, or other precision components.
  • Prior experience fabricating, maintaining, testing, operating, or inspecting mechanical components for fluid/gas systems.
  • Prior experience with mechanical component inspection and refurbishment (e.g., valves, regulators, instrumentation). Cryogenic experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with different types/styles of fluid/gas connections for tubing and pipe.
  • Prior experience in material handling and inventory.
