Qualifications

  • Maintains and calibrates EEG equipment; conducts daily inspections.
  • Adapts EEG procedures to clinical circumstances and reduces interference.
  • Extracts relevant info from patient records and asks clarifying questions.

Job description

Overview

Performs electrocardiograms in a number of hospital settings including intensive care unit and pre-operative area. Assists physicians during various stress tests and maintains equipment and cleanliness of the department.

Responsibilities
  • Performs EKG's (Adult & Pediatric). Accurately sets-up proper placement for 12-lead EKG. Labels procedures properly with name, physician and diagnosis.
  • Accurately processes reports of all diagnostic procedures. Files and mails copies of reports in a timely manner. Updates log books.
  • Assists with treadmills and other stress test procedures. Accurately set-up tests and assists physician with procedures.
  • Process and originates orders from the computer when necessary. Ensures orders are correct and face sheets are forwarded for processing.
  • Performs Holter monitor hook-up and removal. Runs Holter recording. Places leads on patient, instructs patient on procedure and removes monitor upon test completion. Runs printout and evaluates for accuracy's.
  • Performs EEG exams in a professional manner. Exam to be written clearly with appropriate montages and relative technical information on each recording.
  • Prepares EEG patients for electrode applications. Explains each exam clearly and accurately to each patient. Applies electrodes within 20 minutes accurately. When test is complete, assists patient with clean-up.
  • Makes appropriate calibration for EEG apparatus. Inspects & assures proper maintenance of EEG equipment. Calibrates before each exam and makes corrections with minimal assistance. Daily inspection of EEG equipment for defects or improper hook-ups.
  • Adapts EEG procedures to particular clinicalcircumstances. Shows the ability to change montage or recording parameters to fit the clinical situations of the current recording.
  • Recognizes and eliminates causes of electrical interference.
  • Abstracts relevant information from patient's clinical record and obtains additional information by questioning.
