Job summary

Kelly Services is seeking a Battery Test Technician in Morrisville, NC. This 24-month contract offers hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical testing of battery cells, packs, and chargers, within a safety-focused environment.

You will collaborate with engineering, document procedures, and maintain lab equipment while building test harnesses. A.S. in Electronics or equivalent and 2+ years in electronics/manufacturing are preferred.

Qualifications

• AS in Electronics or two-year technical diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of related experience in electronics/manufacturing/engineering.
• Experience with high voltage battery components training provided.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe work environment and support 5S activities.
• Perform electrical and mechanical testing on battery cells, packs, and chargers.
• Collaborate with engineering to apply test requirements.
• Troubleshoot and maintain lab equipment and build test harnesses.
• Assemble fixtures and test setups as needed.
• Document and maintain accurate records of work.
• Assist in inspection, test, and failure analysis of defective assemblies.
• Create test documentation for prototypes when instructions are unavailable.
• Communicate professionally with internal teams and vendors.
• Perform other related tasks as required.

Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation: $42 per hour

Shift:

1st shift - 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. OT hours may be required as requested.

What’s a typical day as Technician (Battery Test Technician)? You’ll be:

• Maintaining a safe work environment and supporting 5S activities.
  
• Performing electrical and mechanical testing on battery cells, battery packs, and battery chargers.
  
• Collaborating with engineering teams to understand and apply defined test requirements.
  
• Troubleshooting and maintaining lab equipment, and building intermediate test harnesses.
  
• Assembling mechanical and electrical fixtures and test setups as required.
  
• Documenting and maintaining accurate records of work performed.
  
• Assisting in the inspection, test, and failure analysis of defective assemblies.
  
• Creating test documentation for prototype products when engineering instructions are not available.
  
• Communicating professionally and effectively with internal teams and vendors.
  
• Performing other associated tasks as needed.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

• Have an A.S. in Electronics, a two-year technical diploma, equivalent military certification, or equivalent experience.
  
• Bring at least two years of related experience in electronics, manufacturing, or engineering (four or more years preferred).
  
• Are comfortable working safely around high voltage battery components (training provided).
  
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Are experienced with Microsoft Excel, Word, and related tools.
  
• Understand test equipment and methods (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes).
  
• Can read engineering documents, schematics, and diagrams.
  
• Are capable of assembling/disassembling components and performing basic mechanical work.
  
• Can work independently with minimal supervision.
  
• Preferably have experience handling and testing Li-ion batteries or building wire harnesses.
