Job summary

JTEKT Automotive - JATM in Morristown, TN is seeking a Technician B to operate machining equipment and participate in the manufacture of high-quality components. The role requires completing the Technician B certification program and the ability to work overtime as needed.

Summary/Purpose

Operates manufacturing equipment and participates in the machining of components to produce high quality finished
goods that meet or exceed our customer’s specification. Maintains equipment PM’s; keeps production line running and
fixes short stops; and performs quality checks using calipers, height gages and other digital gages.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

• Regular and punctual attendance is required.
• Flexible to work in any area of the operation.
• Willing and able to work any shift.
• Must be able to comprehend English and follow direction from JTEKT team leader, supervisor and/or manager.
• Must perform all instructions as listed in the Job Element.
• Follow standard work as described in the Job Elements for each operation and produce quality parts.
• Must produce standard quantities upon completion of training.
• Inspect all safety equipment prior to production start-up (E-Stops, safety lights, PPE).
• Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
• Measure workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
• Perform minor preventative machine maintenance such as oiling machines and do all necessary cleaning on equipment and work area.
• Follow the non-conforming material procedure when it is found and notify the team leader.
• Project a positive outlook in conversation and conduct.
• Able to work in a fast paced team environment without direct supervision.
• May perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Communication Skills – ability to read or listen & comprehend and write & present information in English.
• Mathematical Skills – ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
• Reasoning Ability – ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must complete a blueprint workbook.
• Successful completion of the JTEKT Technician B Certification Program is required.
• Ability to work overtime is an essential function of the position.
