Job summary

Lilly seeks an Automation Technician to support and maintain automation control systems and MES on a 24/7 site in Seattle. The role covers process, CIP, utilities, HVAC and facilities areas, requiring a 12-hour rotating shift with Day/Night coverage.

Qualifications include an Associate or Bachelor’s in Instrumentation, Computer Technology or Electronics, 1–3 years in automation, and experience with DeltaV, PLC, instrumentation, and Syncade MES. L&D and safety compliance are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of automation experience (project and/or support).
  • Experience with DeltaV, PLC and instrumentation is highly recommended.
  • Experience with Syncade or other MES system is highly recommended.
  • Calibration and instrumentation maintenance experience is recommended.
  • Experience in bulk pharmaceutical operations is highly recommended.

Automation Technician

Path/Level: B1

Position Overview: The Automation Technician will be responsible for providing support and maintenance to the automation control systems and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) in the site, including process, CIP, utilities, HVAC and/or facilities areas in 24/7 operations. Role requires working within a 12‑hour rotating shift structure (Day/Night).

Responsibilities
  • Support operations (manufacturing & utilities) in hardware and software issues.
  • Manage and troubleshoot control system and MES problems, provide solutions, and implement actions.
  • Support site facilities startup and qualification activities (e.g., commissioning, C&Q activities, etc.) from the automation and MES perspective.
  • Provide automation and MES systems operations training to production and/or utilities personnel.
  • Perform system maintenance activities, corrective work orders and preventive maintenance.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the area and other functions for preventive and corrective work order execution.
  • Assist with automation and MES projects, investigations and/or implementation of change controls.
  • Provide support to instrumentation technicians during preventive/corrective work orders, calibrations, troubleshooting and/or equipment replacements.
  • Identify all roadblocks and communicate to the appropriate level on time.
  • Collaborate and contribute beyond its role.
  • Participate and comply with all training assigned to the position.
  • Comply with computer systems quality policies, procedures and regulations that apply to the automation systems they support.
  • Comply with environmental, health and safety regulations and internal programs.
  • Have an inspection readiness mindset (quality, safety and environmental).
Basic Requirements
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Computer Technology or Electronics.
  • Computer systems validation experience in regulated operations (preferably GMP operations).
  • 1–3 years technical experience in automation activities (project and/or support).
  • Experience and knowledge of DeltaV, PLC and instrumentation (smart and conventional) is highly recommended.
  • Experience and knowledge in Syncade or other MES system is highly recommended.
  • 1–3 years of calibration and instrumentation maintenance experience is recommended.
  • 1–3 years of experience in bulk pharmaceutical operations is highly recommended.
