Title and Reporting

Title: Tech-Advisor (T/A)
Reporting To: Service Manager
Employment Classification: Non-exempt / hourly

General Summary

The Tech-Advisor embodies VIP’s mission to EARN AUTOMOTIVE CUSTOMERS FOR LIFE by embracing the VIP culture and processes, ensuring customers enjoy a better experience. They work effectively with team members, communicate efficiently, and help deliver high performance and exceptional customer service through adherence to VIP standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prioritize workplace safety by following all policies, completing safety training, and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Serve customers at the counter as a service writer, consulting with them, building relationships, and educating about vehicle conditions based on inspections.
  • Assist in the shop as a technician when necessary, completing assigned work orders according to VIP standards.
  • Complete all training and certifications required for both Service Writer and Technician roles.
  • Achieve success in customer engagement and billed hours, contributing to team productivity.
  • Learn and execute VIP’s processes, including LMS training, vendor training, and certifications such as T.I.A BATS, TPMS, ASE, and others.
  • Maintain facility and equipment, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and proper operation, and report issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with the service Code of Ethics and all relevant regulations.
Additional Responsibilities

Perform other functions as required, including communication with management to ensure service standards and policy adherence.

Performance Measurement

Support the Service Manager in achieving performance goals through daily, weekly, and monthly reports.

Work Schedule
  • Standard: 5 days/week, 40 hours/week
  • Attendance: Arrive before shift start, work scheduled hours, and be prepared to perform duties.
Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong business sense, problem-solving, organization, and time management skills
  • Knowledge of automotive servicing and industry
  • Experience: At least 1 year in automotive service, with a recommended two-year technical school or college degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Certificates & Licenses: Valid driver’s license, Safety Certification, ASE certifications (C1, P2, G1, A4, A5), and State Inspection License if applicable.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

The role involves indoor work in a service department with exposure to weather, noise, chemicals, and mechanical equipment. Physical activities include standing, reaching, walking, and lifting up to 21 lbs., with accommodations available for disabilities.
