Position Title and Reporting

TITLE: Tech-Advisor (T/A)

REPORTING TO: Service Manager

Employment Classification: Non-exempt / hourly

Job Summary

The Tech-Advisor supports VIP’s mission to EARN AUTOMOTIVE CUSTOMERS FOR LIFE by learning VIP culture and processes to help deliver a superior customer experience. The role involves working effectively with team members to ensure communication, teamwork, and operations align with VIP standards. The Tech-Advisor aims to provide an exceptional customer experience and achieve high-performance results by executing VIP programs and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Prioritize workplace safety by following all safety policies, completing safety training, locking out unsafe equipment, and reporting unsafe conditions.
  2. Serve customers at the counter as a service writer, consulting with them, building relationships, and educating them about vehicle conditions based on inspections.
  3. Assist in the shop as a technician, taking work orders and completing services according to VIP standards.
  4. Complete required training and certifications for both Service Writer and Technician roles.
  5. Achieve success in customer engagement and billed hours, measured by VIP productivity standards.
  6. Learn and execute all assigned activities to deliver a better customer experience.
  7. Complete LMS training, vendor training, and certifications such as T.I.A BATS, TPMS, and ASE.
  8. Communicate effectively with the team during daily huddles and meetings.
  9. Monitor emails for customer appointments and communication when working at the counter.
  10. Support the 5-for-5 process to educate customers on vehicle conditions and solutions.
  11. Attend off-site meetings and training sessions as needed.
  12. Maintain facility and equipment, ensuring safety, appearance, and proper functioning.
  13. Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
  14. Perform other duties as required and communicate with management to ensure service standards are met.
Performance Measurement

The Tech-Advisor assists the Service Manager in achieving performance targets through various reports and metrics.

Work Schedule
  • Standard: 5 days/week, 40 hours
  • Attendance: Be punctual, ready at shift start, and work scheduled hours.
Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong business sense, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of automotive service industry.
  • Minimum one year of related experience in automotive service.
  • Completion of a two-year college or technical program recommended, or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Certifications: Equipment Safety, ASE C1 (Service Consultant), and others as listed.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work is performed indoors in a service department with exposure to weather, noise, chemicals, and mechanical equipment. Physical activities include standing, reaching, walking, and lifting up to 21 lbs, with protective gear required for strenuous activities.

Additional Information

This is a part-time, entry-level position with hourly pay. The role involves adhering to safety standards, maintaining the facility, and supporting team operations.
