Tech-Advisor (T/A)

Reporting to:

Service Manager

Summary:

The Tech-Advisor embodies VIP’s mission to EARN AUTOMOTIVE CUSTOMERS FOR LIFE by learning VIP culture and processes, ensuring all customers have a different & better experience. The role involves effective teamwork, communication, and delivering high-performance results by executing VIP standards and programs.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Prioritize workplace safety by following all safety policies and reporting unsafe conditions.
  2. Serve customers at the counter as a service writer, consulting and educating them about their vehicle’s condition.
  3. Perform vehicle services as a technician, completing work orders according to VIP standards.
  4. Complete required training and certifications for both Service Writer and Technician roles.
  5. Achieve success in customer engagement and billed hours.
  6. Learn and execute VIP processes and customer service activities.
  7. Pass all LMS and vendor training, and obtain certifications such as T.I.A BATS, TPMS, and ASE.
  8. Communicate effectively with the team and participate in meetings.
  9. Support the 5-for-5 process to educate customers about vehicle conditions.
  10. Attend off-site training as needed.
  11. Maintain facility and equipment, ensuring safety and cleanliness.
  12. Enforce compliance with ethical standards and regulations.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned and communicate with management regularly.
Performance Measurement:

Support the Service Manager in achieving performance targets through daily, weekly, and monthly reports.

Work Schedule:
  • 5 days/week, 40 hours/week
  • Arrive on time and work scheduled hours
Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Understanding of automotive service industry
  • At least 1 year of related experience
  • Completion of a 2-year college or technical program recommended
  • Valid driver’s license and relevant certifications (ASE C1 required, P2 recommended, G1, A4, A5 optional)
  • State Inspection License (if applicable)
Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Indoor service department environment with exposure to weather, chemicals, noise, and mechanical equipment. Physical activities include standing, reaching, walking, and lifting up to 21 lbs., with accommodations available for disabilities.

Additional Information:

Position is hourly, part-time, entry-level in the automotive industry, focusing on vehicle repair and maintenance.
