Job summary

Grease Monkey International in Denver, CO, is looking for a Technician A with above-average mechanical knowledge to perform tasks including brake systems, oil changes, and customer communication on vehicle maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience, be able to expertly diagnose and repair vehicles, and provide training to less experienced technicians.

This full-time position offers an hourly wage between $18.00-$23.00 along with commission opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and state certifications if applicable.

Summary/objective:

Technician A requires above average mechanical knowledge and performs most mechanical tasks assigned, including braking systems, rotors, fluid exchanges, oil changes, transmission, differential, cooling system maintenance, repairing and replacing tires, and additional services such as wiper blades and air filters. Technician A communicates with customers, educating them on preventive vehicle maintenance. Additional duties may include courtesy services and tire repair and replacement.

You are paid an hourly rate and a commission percentage that is standard across the company.

Essential Duties
  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with supervisory direction and factory standards.
  • Work on more complex repairs and diagnostics than Tech B or C, including transmissions, heavy‑line repairs, and engine overhauls.
  • Helps train Technicians B and/or C team members.
  • Repair knowledge of brakes, A/C services, transmissions, power steering and suspension repairs and more. Diagnoses most cars that come through the shop and repairs vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspections.
  • Examines assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Partners with the Center Manager on scheduling repairs for the day.
  • Documents all work performed and recommended. Conducts road tests as needed.
  • Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean and reports any damage to management immediately.
  • Maintains a clean, organized shop environment and is accountable for all store‑owned tools and manuals.
  • Complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right‑to‑Know, including SOPs and company guidelines.
  • Operates all tools and equipment safely, reporting any safety issues to management.
  • Participates in organization‑sponsored training programs.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Five (5) plus years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine tickets, notes and other correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • State emission certification (if applicable in your state).
  • Current ASE certifications are a huge plus in this role.
  • State vehicle inspector certification (if applicable in your state).
Physical Demands / Work Environment and Requirements
  • Must have a toolbox with the tools required for the position.
  • Must sign a contract with our uniform policy and procedure plan.
  • Ability to work in cramped spaces, such as underneath a jacked‑up automobile or a lower bay.
  • Upper‑body strength and stamina to use hand tools like hammers and wrenches, and to ensure fasteners are secured properly.
  • Fine motor skills to work with small fasteners such as nuts and bolts.
  • Vision skills to read diagrams, manuals and emails; often required to work with color‑coded wiring.
  • Ability to work in fluctuating and extreme weather conditions.
