Job summary

Syngenta seeks a Technician 5 in Vero Beach, FL to support laboratory, greenhouse, and field research activities. You will prepare plants, seeds, insects, media, and assays, maintain records, and ensure clean, compliant work areas in line with Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.

You will collaborate with scientists and cross-functional teams, adapt to changing priorities, and contribute to successful research outcomes while pursuing accuracy and reliability in all tasks.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Agriculture, Biology, or related field, or a high school diploma/GED with relevant lab/greenhouse experience.
• Experience with laboratory, greenhouse, or field techniques and protocols.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with ability to work independently.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for record-keeping and reporting.

Job Description

At Syngenta, our goal is to build the most collaborative and trustworthy team in agriculture, providing top-quality seeds and innovative crop protection solutions that improve farmers' success. To support this mission, Syngenta’s Crop Protection Team is seeking a Technician 5 in Vero Beach, FL.

Accountabilities

• Support laboratory, greenhouse, and field research activities by preparing plants, seeds, insects, media, assays, and other materials needed for scientific testing and trial execution with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation by recording experimental data, task completion, observations, and operational activities in a timely and organized manner.
• Ensure work areas, equipment, and materials are clean, organized, and operating efficiently while adhering to all Syngenta Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with scientists, specialists, and cross-functional teams to understand project needs, prioritize support activities, communicate progress, and contribute to successful research outcomes.
• Provide operational support across laboratory, greenhouse, and field environments by assisting with daily activities, adapting to changing priorities, and contributing to the achievement of team and project goals.

Qualifications

• Associate degree (A.A. or A.S.) in Agriculture, Biology, or a related field, or a high school diploma/GED with relevant experience in a laboratory, greenhouse, agricultural, or field environment.
• Experience gained through formal training and/or hands‑on work experience, including knowledge of laboratory and greenhouse experimental techniques.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions with limited supervision.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Effective verbal, written, presentation, and digital communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams, quickly learn and apply new skills, maintain a results-oriented mindset, and perform all activities in accordance with Syngenta Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting agricultural, biological, greenhouse, or laboratory research activities.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build relationships and contribute to a team‑oriented environment.
• Self‑motivated with strong time management skills and flexibility to adapt to changing business needs.
