Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Mission Technologies in Syracuse, NY, seeks a Manufacturing Assembly Technician to perform production assembly on electronic and mechanical sub-assemblies and support daily line operations.

Minimum qualifications include an associate or 2-year technical degree with 3 years’ experience, or HS diploma with 5 years’ experience. Must read drawings, work with IPC standards, and be a US citizen able to obtain DoD clearance. IPC certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or 2 year technical degree in related discipline with 3 years of related experience; or High School Diploma with 5 years related experience.
  • Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, part lists, connection diagrams, schematics, engineering sketches.
  • Familiar with hand tools and soldering; able to work with high repeatability in an advanced environment.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain DoD government clearance.

Job Description

HII, Mission Technologies is looking for a motivated individual to fill the role of Manufacturing Assembly Technician for their Syracuse, NY Manufacturing Operations. In this role, you will perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies. You will also support the daily activities of the production line and/or processing areas and help build long-term capability within the Manufacturing Organization.

  • Mechanical assembly and installation of electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies
  • Work with team members in assembly and integration of new and existing products
  • Deliver work according to quality requirements and work instructions
  • Adhere to processes and procedures to meet business and program objectives
  • Analyze and identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Efficiently operate hand tools such as drills, torque wrenches, wire cutters, wire strippers & crimpers
  • Identify and resolve tasks independently
  • Follow ESD principles and safeguarding practices
  • Able to lift 40 pounds
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years of related experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years related experience.
  • Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, part lists, connection diagrams, schematics, engineering sketches.
  • Ability to work with standardized procedures for high repeatability in an advanced and connected environment.
  • Ability to obtain IPC-610, IPC-620, and IPC-J-STD-001 certification.
  • Self-motivated and driven desire to succeed with minimal direction.
  • Ability to work both in a team and individually.
  • Must be familiar with hand tools such as torque wrenches, wire cutters, strippers & crimpers, and soldering.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a DoD government clearance.
Preferred Requirements
  • IPC-610, IPC-620, and IPC-J-STD-001 certification
  • Experience in soldering wires, small chips and, Circuit boards
  • Experience in the aerospace/defense industry
  • Wire harness assembly experience
