Job summary

Applus+ DatapointLabs is a premier materials testing provider supporting product design across many industries. The lab focuses on mechanical, rheological, thermal properties and CAE inputs, with five-day turnaround for inputs and strong emphasis on ISO 17025 quality systems.

You will join a team performing routine mechanical tests, maintaining precise records, and ensuring calibration and safe operation of equipment in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to accurately collect, record, and organize test data.
  • Experience in manufacturing, quality, or testing environment.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate laboratory testing equipment.
  • Perform routine mechanical testing (tensile, compression, flexural, shear, impact, fatigue, creep).
  • Follow detailed ASTM and ISO testing procedures exactly as written.
  • Monitor tests while recording observations and instrument readings.
  • Collect raw test data and enter results into laboratory software.
  • Photograph and document specimens before and after testing.
  • Verify that test equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and electronic records.
  • Assist engineers and senior technicians with research and customer projects.
  • Package and dispose of tested specimens according to procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Follow ISO 17025 quality procedures and laboratory documentation requirements.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and proper use of PPE.
  • Occasionally assist with sample preparation for multiple materials.

DatapointLabs offers research-quality material inputs for CAE in a routine five-day turn around. Fully equipped with modern instruments and expert personnel, DatapointLabs is a center for the science of materials. Capabilities include a range of physical properties of materials in the solid and molten state including mechanical, rheological, thermal, pvT, viscoelastic, impact, fatigue, and creep.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate laboratory testing equipment under supervision.
  • Perform routine mechanical testing such as tensile, compression, flexural, shear, impact, fatigue, creep, etc.
  • Follow detailed ASTM and ISO testing procedures exactly as written.
  • Monitor tests while recording observations and instrument readings.
  • Collect raw test data and enter results into laboratory software.
  • Photograph and document specimens before and after testing.
  • Verify that test equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and electronic records.

  • Package and return or dispose of tested specimens according to laboratory procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Follow ISO 17025 quality procedures and laboratory documentation requirements.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and proper use of PPE.
  • Occasionally assist with sample preparation for multiple materials including plastics, composites, metals, rubber, foams, ceramics, and adhesives
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, especially Excel)
  • Ability to accurately collect, record, and organize test data
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, quality, or testing environment
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, or other precision measuring tools is preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry approximately 25–50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity to prepare specimens and operate laboratory equipment
  • Ability to occasionally bend, reach, kneel, or climb as needed
