Job Summary

The Technician is responsible for providing operational, technical, electrical, and mechanical support for all facility equipment. Incumbents are responsible for a variety of tasks involved in troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing, and operating equipment within an assigned area. Ensure the reliability of equipment, and accurate measurement and quality of product transported through the system. Utilize line locating equipment to provide area damage prevention support.

This is considered an intermediate or journey-level position that the incumbent can perform independently or with minimal supervision.

The schedule for this position is M-F, days, with periodic on-call, OT.

The selected candidate will need to live within 45 minutes of the posted work location.

Job Profile Summary
  • Primary technical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Maintain a working knowledge of company policies/procedures as they relate to the operation/maintenance of the assigned assets, including ONEOK Management System (OMS) and OQ requirements and implement them into location work practices.
    • Attend and actively participate in required safety training meetings.
    • Perform routine testing, inspection, and maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all assigned mainline and facility equipment/systems, including but not limited to: pumps, electric motors, electrical equipment, electronic and/or pneumatic instrumentation, programmable logic controllers, measurement systems, product testing & analysis, piping systems, valves, centrifugal, positive displacement pumps, positive displacement meters, turbine meters, various valves, and similar other equipment and systems.
    • Complete and maintain required documentation/records associated with performed maintenance, repair, and inspection.
    • Manage location projects, including major overhauls, troubleshooting for pumps and mechanical seals, new installations, or modifications of existing equipment, etc.
    • Additional duties as requested by supervisor
  • Additional Damage Prevention duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Coordinate and perform Damage Prevention and Public Education activities as prescribed in ONEOK Management System (OMS) Elements:
    • Safely and effectively perform damage prevention and public education tasks and procedures, while professionally and positively representing the Company to the community and other stakeholder groups.
    • Ensure One Calls, line locates, and Aerial Patrol activities are performed and/or completed in specified timeframes.
    • Proactively work with One Call group to improve performance measures in mapping, county notes, and field cleared tickets.
    • Respond to after-hour calls as expected during scheduled on-call rotation.
    • Address basic real estate/right of way issues and encroachments by proactively working with Company Real Estate representatives and Tulsa subject matter experts.
    • Execute the Integrity Plan by coordinating work activities, providing oversight to inspection and contract resources, and coordinate contract maintenance crews;
    • Participate in developing and describing steps required to safely complete an effective Job Plan.
    • Compliance - records - documentation - audits:
    • Contribute local knowledge and experience in developing Damage Prevention Plans.
    • Assist in maintaining inspections, licensing and maintenance of vehicles and equipment in the Vehicle and Driver training programs.

Final grade and wage will be commensurate with background skill and experience.

Responsibilities may include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline. Job duties also require the employee to be alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions, and where impaired performance, or failure to follow safety precautions, could result in serious injury or property damage.

Education
  • High school diploma required
  • Two years of vocational/ technical training from a recognized institution majoring in electronics, electricity or diesel mechanics is preferred.
Work Experience
  • One to three years industry experience in the maintenance and operation of refined products or crude pipelines, terminals, pump stations, or equivalent industry experience is preferred.
  • Experience with API 653 & DOT 195 pipeline operations is preferred.
  • Experience in use and function of tools and equipment applicable to position including but not limited to:
  • Manual/power tools

  • Experience and training related to
  • Computers and related software
  • Governmental rules, regulations, and (electric) codes
  • Company policies and procedures including safe handling practices for flammable gases, liquids, and high pressure systems

  • Experience reading and interpreting repair orders, mechanical drawings, procedures, charts, diagrams, dials, gauges, and equipment manuals
  • Experience preparing, processing, or verifying maintenance and repair records, safety and environmental reports, electrical schematics and diagrams, pressure readings, and material and supply orders
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of: the use and function of reciprocating internal combustion engines, pneumatic compressors, and electronic and processing equipment applicable to position
  • Knowledge of: instrumentation, electronics, tools and control systems
  • Ability to: apply addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and algebraic formulas
  • Ability to: communicate and/or exchange written and verbal information and instructions
  • Ability to drive from a base location to remote locations during normal shifts and on a call-out basis.
