Econolite Group, Inc. seeks an experienced ITS Technician to install, troubleshoot, and maintain traffic signals and related ITS devices in the Miami Lakes area. This full-time role requires field work, safety compliance, and strong diagnostic skills.

The candidate will travel within Florida and possibly the US, operate bucket trucks, and collaborate with customers to deliver reliable, high-quality traffic management solutions.

Qualifications

• Five years of related experience in ITS or traffic signaling.
• IMSA Level II or III certification preferred; FDOT Temporary Traffic Control Certification preferred; Electrician license preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
• Ability to interpret design schematics, site plans, maps, and engineering drawings.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable DMV record; commercial license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair ITS equipment including CCTV, radar, loop detectors, signs, cabinets, and cabling.
• Field implementation of traffic control devices as needed.
• Operate bucket truck for maintenance duties.
• Travel within Florida and/or the US.
• Represent the organization professionally to support The Brand Promise.

Under general direction, lead and support the ITS performing skilled work in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of traffic signals and other Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices.

DUTIES

• Installation, maintenance, replacement, programming, repair and troubleshooting of ITS equipment, including CCTV cameras, video detection, radar detection, loop detectors, dynamic message signs, connected vehicle RSU’s, poles, etc. and associated cabinets, cabling, etc. Also to include communications equipment such as managed field ethernet switches, fiber, copper, etc.
• Field implementation of traffic control devices as needed (signs, cones, etc.)
• Includes driving / operation of a bucket truck for traffic signal and ITS maintenance duties
• Perform all job functions of ITS Technician and any other assignments as requested
• May require on-call on-site response for customer call outs, including nights and weekends
• May include travel within Florida and / or within the US
• Serves as a proactive customer service & quality ambassador of The Econolite Group, Inc. by representing the organization in a positive, professional manner to support The Brand Promise
• Performs other duties as required and assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Five (5) years of related experience
• IMSA Level II or IMSA Level III certification preferred; FDOT Temporary Traffic Control Certification preferred; Electrician License preferred.
• Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
• Knowledge of tools, equipment, practices, and methods used in installing, maintaining, and repairing traffic signals, ITS devices and associated equipment
• Knowledge of fiber optic cable & networking equipment, Fiber training preferred
• Ability to interpret design schematics, site plans, maps, and engineering drawings
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable DMV record; commercial driver’s license preferred
• Ability to exert moderate physical effort, typically involving, some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 50 pounds.)
• Computer software skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications such as MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

BUSINESS TRAVEL & HOURS

• 100% travel to project locations and company facilities across the various counties within the Tampa, FL area.
• Some or all hours may be during 3rd shift

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to stand, walk, squat, and bend at the waist for extended periods of time
• Safety sensitive position—will be required to work at busy traffic intersections
• Required to drive up to five hours a day; ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
• May work in various, changing outdoor weather conditions, i.e. rain, heat, snow, etc.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT

All candidates who accept employment will be subject to a background investigation and drug screening. For applicable roles, candidates who accept employment will also be subject to a Motor Vehicle/Driving Record screening. For this role, a Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical Exam will be conducted by a licensed medical examiner and issued a medical examiner’s certificate, valid for up to 24 months.
