Job summary

Econolite Group, Inc. is seeking a field technician to support installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of traffic signals and ITS devices in Florida. You will work on street-level equipment and collaborate with a team to ensure safe, reliable operation.

The role requires practical electrical experience, willingness to work at busy intersections, and adherence to safety standards. On-site work in varied weather conditions is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience with traffic signal or ITS installation, maintenance, or construction.
• Knowledge of traffic control guidelines and relevant codes is preferred.
• Ability to work safely in outdoor environments and around busy intersections.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintenance of signal controllers and cabinets and troubleshoot wiring issues.
• Install traffic signal controllers, video detection, CCTV, and related equipment.
• Assist with pole installations, wiring of cabinets, flashers, batteries, and solar panels.
• Perform tasks of a Utility Laborer as needed and other duties as assigned.

Under general direction, support Econolite Systems by performing work in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of traffic signals and other Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices.

DUTIES:

• Assist in performing maintenance for traffic signal controllers and cabinets, and perform basic troubleshooting of wiring problems in cabinets, as well as underground.
• Under direction, install various types of traffic signal controllers, video detection systems, CCTV. Install and remove temporary/permanent replacement poles, signal heads, ISNS, street lighting and/or combination of these items
• Assist to troubleshoot and repair wiring problems in the street, may include saw cutting of concrete & asphalt; may also include replacement of underground conduit, conductors and pull boxes; test and splice loop detectors in the street
• Assist with installation of school zone flashers, including ground preparation for pole anchor installation, wiring of cabinets / flashers / batteries / solar panels, and pole install.
• Perform all job functions of Utility Laborer and any other assignments as requested
• Performs other duties as required and assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• One (1) or more years of related traffic signal / ITS / construction experience, or electrical experience preferred
• Knowledge of tools, equipment, practices, and methods used in installing, maintaining, and repairing traffic signals, ITS devices and associated equipment preferred. Video Detection configuration, troubleshooting and repair experience highly desired
• Knowledge of principles and practices of traffic control guidelines, both state and local, in addition to pertinent federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations regarding electronics
• Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
• Ability to wire and connect cables necessary for operation of signalized intersections preferred
• Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to exert moderate physical effort, typically involving some combination of, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting and bending at the for extended periods of time
• Safety sensitive position-will be required to work at busy traffic intersections
• Required to drive up to five hours a day; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• May work in various, changing outdoor weather conditions, i.e. rain, heat, snow, etc.

BUSINESS TRAVEL

May include travel within Florida and / or within the US.
