Base pay range

$70,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr

An international electrical power distribution company near the Buffalo Grove, IL area of Chicago is looking for a skilled Technical Writer responsible for creating documentation and user guides for their products. This is a fully remote, full-time and direct hire role, with benefits including health insurance, PTO, and 401k options.

Responsibilities:

• Create, maintain, and update technical documentation for company products and services, including product manuals, specifications, internal and external training materials, and user guides
• Analyze technical concepts and translate them into clear, user-friendly language
• Collaborate with marketing and engineering teams to gather product specifications and ensure documentation is created to the highest standard of quality
• Gather internal and external user feedback and make improvements to documents
• Provide technical support to customers by answering questions related to product documentation
• Prepare presentation materials for customer meetings, focusing on specific product features
• Assist in other areas when necessary

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in English/Writing, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical communications field
• 4 - 6 years relevant experience in technical / training documentation
• Strong understanding of technical products, engineering concepts, and industry terminology, with experience in electrical engineering or power distribution strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker, and AutoCAD (or similar technical drawing tool)
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical engineering concepts in a simple, concise manner
