Qualifikationen

Description
  • Developing, editing, and maintaining technical documentation for software applications, systems, interfaces, and supporting infrastructure
  • Creating software and system documentation, including:
    • System and software architecture documentation
    • Software design and technical specifications
    • User guides and administrator guides
    • Installation, configuration, and deployment guides
    • Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
    • Application programming interface (API) documentation
    • Release notes and change documentation
    • Requirements and traceability documentation
    • Test plans, test procedures, and test reports
    • Operations and maintenance documentation
    • Training and instructional materials
  • Collaborating with developers, engineers, Scrum teams, product owners, business analysts, and subject-matter experts to gather and validate technical information
  • Translating complex software and engineering concepts into documentation appropriate for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Participating in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, demonstrations, and retrospectives as appropriate
  • Reviewing software requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, architecture/design artifacts, source material, and technical specifications to identify documentation requirements
  • Establishing and maintaining documentation standards, templates, style guides, and quality-control processes
  • Ensuring documentation is accurate, consistent, complete, current, and compliant with applicable government and program requirements
  • Tracking documentation changes using version-control and configuration-management processes
  • Coordinating documentation reviews and incorporate feedback from technical teams, program management, and government stakeholders
  • Supporting software releases by preparing release notes, deployment documentation, configuration information, and other required deliverables
  • Working within collaborative documentation and development environments such as Confluence, SharePoint, Git, GitLab, GitHub, Jira, or similar tools.
  • Maintaining documentation in accordance with applicable security, accessibility, records-management, and configuration-management requirements
  • Identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities to improve existing technical documentation
  • Providing status updates regarding documentation activities, risks, dependencies, and deliverables

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in technical writing, communications, English, information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field
    • equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Five or more years of professional technical writing or technical documentation experience, preferably supporting software development, information technology, engineering, or government programs
  • Demonstrated experience producing technical documentation for complex software or IT systems
  • Experience gathering technical information from software developers, engineers, system architects, and other subject-matter experts
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and the ability to document processes across requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and communicate complex technical information clearly and accurately
  • Excellent written, verbal, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and/or Visio
  • Ability to manage multiple documentation assignments and competing priorities while meeting established deadlines
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional technical teams
  • Must have Active TS/SCI clearance to start
Desired Skills
  • Experience working in Agile, Scrum, DevSecOps, or continuous-delivery software development environments
  • Familiarity with software development and engineering concepts, including:
  • Experience documenting APIs using tools such as OpenAPI
  • Experience preparing Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables, monthly status reports, program management reviews, executive briefings, or similar contractual reporting
  • Experience developing documentation within a version-controlled environment
  • Familiarity with federal cybersecurity and compliance frameworks such as RMF
  • Experience supporting documentation subject to formal configuration management, quality assurance, or government acceptance processes
  • Experience developing documentation for mission-critical or highly regulated systems
  • Experience creating diagrams, process flows, architecture diagrams, or other technical visuals using tools such as Visio, draw.io, or similar
  • Experience developing end-user training materials, quick-reference guides, and instructional content
  • Relevant professional certification in technical communication, Agile/Scrum, IT, cybersecurity, or a related discipline
