We are seeking a Technical Writer to support the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service's Grants and Agreements division in North Carolina. This position is fully remote.

Please note that this is a part-time position, (16) hours per week, on Tuesday and Thursday.

Technical Writer Role

As the Technical Writer, you will provide technical assistance covering the full lifecycle of Grants and Agreements (G&A) between the Forest Service and partner agencies and organizations, including the technical writing and review of G&A Documents, assisting subject matter experts, and providing guidance on process, regulatory compliance, and financial planning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and administrative assistance to the Region 8 Fire and Aviation Group by providing advice and assistance on proper utilization of Agreements.
  • Organize material and complete assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology, and maintain records and files of work.
  • Review financial statements and advise the Region 8 Fire and Aviation Group on the proper use of funds.
  • Revise or advise on the revision of standardized material for Grants and Agreements Documentation, Scopes of Work, financial plans, and other related materials.

Qualifications

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently without sponsorship.
  • A High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Federal Grants and Agreements, their terminology, structure, process, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent reading comprehension and professional writing skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised following general direction.
  • Ability to complete tasks efficiently.
