The role

Watershed is on a mission to help companies measure, reduce, remove, and report their emissions. Our success is defined by the success of our customers — we’re looking to bring on a part-time (~20 hours/week) technical writer to create technical product documentation for our core platform and execute a maintenance project across Watershed’s customer-facing knowledge base. You’ll work closely with Content Design and reps across the Product org to ensure our content is accurate, accessible, and aligned with our evolving strategy and standards.

You will:

• Create a new set of technical product documentation articles that covers our core platform in collaboration with Engineering team in accessible and user-friendly way
• Implement a comprehensive maintenance project of Watershed’s 200+ article knowledge base, specifically:
• Updating product user guides for accuracy and quality. This involves collaborating with Product and Design teams and auditing relevant surfaces and documentation.
• Contributing to content strategy and standards with Customer Education and Content Design to make updates in service of quality, organization, and consistency
• Adding FAQs or supporting evidence in partnership with the Support team
• Write, edit, and publish directly in our content management system
• Weekly check-ins with our Content Design team

You might be a fit if you have:

• 3+ years of experience with technical documentation writing for software products and a proven ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely for a non-technical audience.
• Strong writer, copyeditor, and reviewer that communicates and collaborates well with various cross-functional stakeholders.
• Experience with contributing to and executing on content strategy, content design standards, information architecture, and organizational structure for large libraries of content and materials.
• Comfortable editing and publishing directly in a content management system
