Now Hiring: Technical Writer – Accessibility & Document Standardization
Location: Jefferson County, CO (Hybrid options may be available)
Employment Type: Contract through 11/2025 (extension possible)
Compensation: $25/hr W2 (higher for 1099)
Interview Format: Virtual
We’re looking for a Technical Writer with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for accessible, user-friendly documentation to support a large-scale initiative focused on standardizing internal job aids. You’ll play a key role in transforming technical content into clear, consistent resources that meet accessibility compliance standards and support employees across the organization.
What You’ll Do:
Format and standardize technical content using Microsoft Word templates
Edit documents for clarity, structure, and plain
Ensure compliance with Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards
Use Adobe Acrobat Pro to remediate PDFs (tags, reading order, alt text, etc.)
Collaborate with SMEs to clarify and update content
Track and manage document status and revisions
Publish final content to SharePoint
What You Bring:
Strong technical writing and editing skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word (advanced formatting, templates)
Familiarity with accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG 2.1)
Experience using Adobe Acrobat Pro for accessibility checks and remediation
Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable following documentation standards
Ability to work with assistive technologies and support inclusive design
Nice to Have:
Experience creating or updating SOPs, job aids, or training content
Familiarity with plain principles and readability tools
Knowledge of SharePoint or document publishing tools
Experience in a public sector or cross-departmental environment
Interest in adult learning or IT enablement
