As a Technical Writer at Bitwarden, you'll contribute directly to the success of Bitwarden users and customers by addressing a wide range of audiences across our team's growing product portfolio. We're looking for someone who will dive deep into understanding our users' and customers' needs to shape instructive content (primarily, but not limited to, bitwarden.com/help). You'll be hands-on with some of the most-used software development and deployment technologies to test and document the latest features, partnering with almost every team at Bitwarden to ensure the content you create is accurate and fully realized.

This is a great opportunity to get involved in a fast-growing company and contribute to a first-class product experience. Bitwarden is an all-remote team, and we're looking for someone based in the U.S., preferably in time zones overlapping the U.S. east coast.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop product documentation, onboarding guides, technical resources, and more for diverse customer and user personas.
  2. Develop a deep understanding of customer needs by collaborating cross-functionally, engaging with the community, and analyzing data.
  3. Contribute to the evolution of Bitwarden documentation and the Technical Writing team through process improvements, cultural initiatives, or innovative documentation approaches.
  4. Lead the development of a refreshed library of clear, actionable onboarding materials to empower users worldwide.
  5. Become a Subject-Matter-Expert (SME) for Bitwarden products and services for internal reference.
Qualifications
  • Experience in technical writing, software development, UX writing, or IT administration.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in writing.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard tools like headless CMSs, JIRA, Docker, and GitHub.
  • Experience with cloud software development and deployment cycles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and resourcefulness.
  • Passion for internet security and user education.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience working in enterprise IT environments.
  • Familiarity with Bitwarden products or open source communities.
  • Knowledge of programming languages like C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, or Rust.
  • Experience designing onboarding modules or guides.
Interview Process

Selected candidates will be invited for an initial call, followed by stages including interviews with the Hiring Manager, team members, and reference checks.

In the U.S., the starting salary range is $70,000 - $110,000, depending on experience and market factors. Benefits details are available on our careers page. Compensation outside the U.S. varies by location.
