Job summary

ON.energy is seeking a Technical Writer to build and unify our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System across US operations. This full-time role supports creating auditable documentation—policies, procedures, and work instructions—that auditors will accept.

You will translate how teams operate into clear, compliant documents, including bilingual English/Spanish materials when needed, and assist internal and external audits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of technical writing experience in quality/operations/industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and documented information expectations.
• Proven experience creating workflows, policies, procedures, SOPs, and forms for ISO 9001:2015 QMS.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AI writing platforms.
• Experience with document control systems (SharePoint/Confluence).
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to simplify complex processes into clear instructions.
• Ability to work independently with process owners and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain QMS documents: policies, manual, procedures, work instructions, forms, templates.
• Interview process owners to capture real workflows.
• Align documents to ISO 9001:2015 clauses and documented information requirements.
• Produce bilingual English/Spanish documents when needed or coordinate translation.
• Support audits by providing records and answering documentation questions.
• Standardize formats, style, and terminology across sites.
• Create visual aids like flowcharts, process maps, and checklists.

Job Title: Technical Writer - ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems

Location: Houston, TX (open to remote)

Reports To: Quality Management Systems Program Manager

Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled Technical Writer, with 3+ years of technical writing experience, preferably in ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (QMS) and operations. This is a full-time position supporting the build-out of a unified ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System across ON.energy’s US operations.

In this role, you will turn how our teams actually work into clear, auditable, compliant documentation - policies, procedures, and work instructions that people will use and that certification auditors will accept. The primary responsibilities will include developing and maintaining QMS documents and aligning them to ISO 9001:2015 requirements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of technical writing experience, preferably in quality, operations, or industrial/energy environments
• Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 requirements and documented information expectations
• Strong proficiency and proven experience in Technical Writing for developing Process Workflows, Policies, Procedures, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), and Forms for an ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System
• Strong proficiency with key Microsoft platforms (e.g. Excel, Word, Viso, Planner) and AI platforms (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, CoPilot, Gemini)
• Experience with document control systems (e.g. SharePoint, Confluence)
• Strong organizational skills, and attention to detail
• Ability to turn complex processes into clear, usable instructions
• Ability to work independently with process owners at different levels
• Ability to manage several documentation projects and deadlines at once

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain QMS documents: quality policy, manual, procedures, work instructions, forms, and templates
• Interview process owners to capture real workflows
• Align documents to ISO 9001:2015 clauses (4-10), including documented information requirements (clause 7.5)
• Produce bilingual (English/Spanish) documents where needed, or coordinate translation and review
• Support internal audits, management reviews, and external certification or surveillance audits by supplying records and answering documentation questions
• Standardize document formats, style, and terminology across sites
• Build visual aids such as flowcharts, process maps, and checklists
