Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a technical writer to create clear design and test documentation for cloud, hybrid, and private IT systems.

The role requires translating complex IT information into user-friendly documents and maintaining authoritative documentation across projects. This position can be performed remotely within the United States and requires US citizenship with the ability to obtain a US federal government Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 6+ years of IT/cloud technical writing experience.
• Strong writing and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
• Familiarity with US federal government documentation standards (e.g., NIST).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with SMEs to create and maintain technical documentation for cloud, hybrid cloud, and IT systems including PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, virtualization/VDI, storage, and cybersecurity requirements.
• Ensure documentation meets US federal government standards and guidelines.
• Translate testing criteria into detailed test plans and support testing processes.
• Write, edit, and proofread documents in response to client requests and deadlines.
• Review and revise existing documentation to maintain current and accurate information.
• Develop templates and collaborate with engineers and clients to create impactful graphics and presentation elements.
• Maintain a library of templates and technical documents and ensure CM over all documents.
• Maintain consistency across documents and projects.

The technical writer will be responsible for creating clear and comprehensive design and test documentation for our cloud, hybrid, and private IT systems. The candidate will possess a strong understanding of IT infrastructure, enabling them to translate complex technical information into user-friendly documents. It is essential that the candidate is a US citizen and is able to obtain and maintain a US federal government Secret clearance. This position can be done remotely.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with subject matter experts to create and maintain clear and concise technical documentation for cloud and hybrid cloud solutions that include network transport, PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, virtualization / VDI, storage, application, and compute environments as well as Cybersecurity requirements.
• Ensure all documentation meets US federal government standards and guidelines.
• Translate testing criteria into detailed test plans for projects and provide support throughout the testing process. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in cloud technologies.
• Write, edit, and meticulously proofread technical documents in response to client requests and requirements, adhering to established schedules and deadlines.
• Assist in the review and revision of existing documentation to maintain current and accurate information.
• Develop templates and work directly with engineers and client representatives to conceptualize impactful graphics, figures, tables, and other presentation elements to optimize the impact of information and work with graphics artists to have them produced.
• Maintain a library of templates and technical documents.
• Maintain technical documentation quality and consistency across technical documentation of similar types and across multiple projects.
• Maintain configuration management over all technical documents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or relevant field; or 6+ years’ experience working in the IT and/or Cloud Computing industry as a technical writer required with a high school diploma.
• Familiarity with US federal government documentation standards (e.g., NIST guidelines, Shore Installation Process Handbook (SIPH), etc.).
• Strong ability to understand and document IT infrastructure, software applications, and cloud/hybrid/private cloud-based technologies.
• Strong writing and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
