Research Technologies partners with researchers across IndianaUniversity (IU) and the national research community to provideadvanced computing infrastructure, research software, and technicalexpertise that accelerate discovery. This position works closelywith the Jetstream2 team, which develops and operates 1 of theNational Science Foundation's premier academic cloud computingplatforms. Jetstream2 enables researchers, educators, and studentsacross the United States to access scalable, on-demand cloudresources that support data-intensive research, artificialintelligence, classroom instruction, and scientificcollaboration.
What We Do:
- National Research Cloud: We develop and supportJetstream2, a flexible cloud computing platform that providesresearchers with on-demand virtual machines, storage, andspecialized computing resources.
- Research Enablement: We help researchers leverage cloudtechnologies to accelerate discovery, improve reproducibility, andsupport data-intensive and computational research.
- Technical Documentation and Communication: We createclear, accurate documentation that helps researchers, systemadministrators, developers, and campus partners effectively use andcontribute to our services.
- Open Science and Collaboration: We work withuniversities, national cyberinfrastructure organizations, andfunding agencies to advance research computing and broaden accessto cutting-edge technology.
- Innovation and Service: We continuously evaluate andimplement emerging technologies to provide reliable, secure, andscalable research infrastructure for a diverse scientificcommunity.
Job Summary
- Works with key stakeholders to determine needs, reviewsproposal requirements, organizes and creates assignments, andensures adherence to deadlines; writes and prepares varioustechnical documents such as research/grant proposals andapplications for submission to funding and regulatory agenciesincluding writing and/or editing ideas, abstracts, protocols andconsents, study reports and appendices, or other regulatorydocuments; contributes to overall project management andcross-functional working groups to facilitate development andfinalization of assigned documents; ensures quality and consistencyamong formatting and style; collects information on reportedproblems regarding consistency and/or clarity in proposals andmanuscripts; amends proposals as needed/required; maintains versioncontrol for all documents.
- Contributes to and participates in meetings with the variousresearch groups within the department; communicates with writingproject stakeholders; ensures coordination of communication betweenstakeholders and supports overall collaboration amongstakeholders.
- Prioritizes writing projects and provides a tracking mechanismon requests and includes estimated timelines, projects in progress,estimated completion dates, and duration of projects; followsstandard procedures and processes for the optimal workflow ofrequests. and projects.
- Develops print and/or online publications or publicpresentations of results from research by applying criticalthinking to acquired scientific and medical knowledge.
- Provides expertise on regulatory requirements and ensuresassigned documents are produced in accordance with such guidanceand relevant internal metrics; provides suggestions for processimprovements and may provide guidance/oversight to hourlyemployees.

Combinations of related education and experience may beconsidered. Education beyond the minimum required may besubstituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimumrequired may be substituted for education.

- Bachelor's degree (preferably in English or a relatedfield)

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and tooperate a computer and other standard office productivityequipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periodsof time moving around an office environment and the campus. Theperson in this role must be able to perform the essential functionswith or without an accommodation.
