Job summary

Trillium Staffing is seeking a Technical Training & Documentation Specialist in Lockhart, TX, to observe, capture, and standardize our fleet technician upfitting and workflows at our Lockhart facility. This 100% on-site role combines hands-on observation with clear SOP creation and training material development.

You will work closely with engineering and field teams to document hardware installation, build modular curricula, and ensure documentation stays current as autonomous systems evolve,

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in technical writing, training documentation, or instructional design for industrial or technical environments.
• Strong mechanical/hardware aptitude with ability to capture steps from observed processes.
• Visual documentation skills: clear photos, annotated diagrams, reader-friendly guides.
• Proficient with Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat, and LMS tools.
• Excellent written English; can simplify engineering jargon for technicians.

Responsibilities

• Shadow technicians on-site to document hardware upfitting and sensor calibration.
• Create SOPs, visual field guides, safety checklists, and troubleshooting manuals.
• Develop modular training curriculums and onboarding guides with multimedia materials.

Trillium is now hiring ATechnical Training & Documentation Specialist inLockhart, TX (100% In-Office / On-Site)!

Annual salary is $83,200 / year. This is a full-time opportunity!

We are seeking a hands-on Technical Training & Documentation Specialist based at our Lockhart facility to observe, capture, and standardize our Fleet Technician upfitting and operational workflows.

Working directly alongside our engineering and field teams, you will observe the hardware upfitting process for autonomous heavy equipment, translate complex mechanical and electrical procedures into clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and build training materials to scale our technician onboarding nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Field & Shop Observation: Shadow Fleet Technicians on-site to document end-to-end hardware upfitting, including sensor mounting, high-voltage wiring harness routing, compute installation, and calibration procedures.
• SOP & Manual Creation: Write clear, step-by-step Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), visual field guides, safety checklists, and troubleshooting manuals.
• Training Program Development: Build modular training curriculums, onboarding guides, and multimedia instructional materials (photos, diagrams, short video walk-throughs) for new Fleet Technicians.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with hardware engineers, software leads, and fleet managers to ensure documentation stays current as autonomous hardware configurations evolve.
• Continuous Improvement: Audit existing documentation based on field technician feedback and upfit error logs to improve clarity and reduce install times.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 3+ years of experience in technical writing, training documentation, or instructional design for industrial, automotive, hardware, or technical operations environments.
• Strong Mechanical / Hardware Aptitude: Ability to watch a technician perform complex wiring, bracket mounting, or sensor calibration and immediately capture the steps accurately.
• Visual Documentation Skills: Skilled in taking clear instructional photographs, annotating diagrams, and formatting guides for rapid reading by field teams.
• Tool Proficiency: Experience using tools such as Google Workspace (Docs/Slides/Drive), Adobe Acrobat, or specialized visual documentation/LMS platforms.
• Communication: Exceptional written English skills with the ability to turn jargon-heavy engineering terms into straightforward, actionable technician instructions.

Preferred Experience

• Prior background in heavy machinery, robotics, automotive/EV manufacturing, or agricultural autonomy.
• Experience building multimedia training modules or video micro-learnings.
