Job summary

Echodyne, a leader in compact solid-state radar, is seeking an Instructional Designer to join our fast-growing team in Kirkland, WA. You will analyze training needs, translate complex concepts into clear instruction, and develop curricula for customers and field engineers.

Collaborating with engineers and product teams, you will create asynchronous courses, simulations, labs, and assessments, establish development standards, and measure learning impact to ensure field readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, learning sciences, educational technology, engineering education, technical communication, or related field—or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years designing professional or technical training.
• Experience developing asynchronous e-learning and performance-support materials.
• Knowledge of adult-learning principles and instructional design approaches (ADDIE, SAM, backward design, Bloom’s Taxonomy).
• Proficiency with an e-learning authoring platform such as Articulate 360 or Adobe Captivate.
• Experience creating assessments, hands-on exercises, and scenario-based learning.
• Experience working with engineers or technical SMEs.
• Ability to explain unfamiliar technical systems to different audiences.
• Strong project-management skills and independent work style.

Responsibilities

• Conduct audience, needs, task, and performance analyses for radar hardware and software training.
• Observe field deployments or customer training to understand workflows.
• Develop role-based curricula and learning paths for customers and onboarding.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear instruction.
• Create asynchronous courses, simulations, modules, and assessments.
• Design training connecting software workflows with hands-on hardware activities.
• Write measurable learning objectives and align materials to them.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, Solutions Engineers, and writers to validate content.
• Coordinate with video developers on scripts and media.
• Establish templates, standards, and development processes for training.
• Manage course content through reviews, publication, and updates.
• Evaluate learning effectiveness and drive improvements.
