Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a technical trainer and field installation expert to support installation projects, develop training materials, and train crews and customers on proper techniques. The role involves collaborating with Sales, Product Management, R&D and Marketing, and requires significant travel.

Responsibilities include creating installation guides, delivering classroom and field training, and providing feedback to product teams to improve procedures and materials.

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of experience in construction, building materials, building science or related fields.
  • Advanced knowledge of roofing installation processes.
  • Knowledge of standard building practices.
  • Knowledge of building and wind codes in assigned territory.
  • Written and oral communication and presentations skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret and comprehend technical documents such as installation instructions, architectural blueprints, construction plans, product specifications and building codes.

  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert and respond to technical, installation and product questions.
  • Prepare and execute installation instructions, guides, videos and other tools for field use.
  • Develop product training methodology for classroom and field installation training.
  • Train installation crews and customers on proper installation technique.
  • Manage day-to-day issues and coordinate with sales to ensure solutions are achieved.
  • Analyze and provide feedback concerning product development and pricing.
  • Provide feedback to Product Management, R&D, engineering and quality about product defects, design issues, potential enhancements and new ideas.
  • Collaborate with Customer Care to support warranty claims and customer complaints.
  • Work with marketing teams for displays for trade shows as needed.
  • Up to 60% travel required with 2-3 overnight stays per week.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, yet have the ability to lead and work as part of a team
  • Ability to construct training decks as needed using common tools, building techniques, and materials
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
