Job summary

Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Technical Trainer to design, deliver, and maintain training programs for manufacturing, engineering, quality, and support teams. You will ensure staff are competent, qualified, and compliant with work instructions, procedures, and regulations.

You will develop hands-on curricula, utilize learning tools, and coordinate with subject matter experts to keep training up to date. A DoD clearance may be required as part of your responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Experience developing and delivering formal training in EH&S, Quality, and manufacturing topics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Broad technical knowledge of aerospace/electronics work practices.
  • General understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work in diverse, dynamic environments.
  • Ability to become a certified IPC-610/620 and J STD 001 in-house trainer.
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers, develops, and coordinates curriculum; conducts technical training sessions.

  • Collaborates with engineering/operations to document solutions.
  • Establishes training schedules ensuring initial and retraining needs are met.
  • Develops relationships with third-party trainers when needed.

Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Technical Trainer to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Sr. Director, EH&S, Quality & Mission Assurance, the Technical Trainer will be responsible for developing, delivering, maintaining, and coordinating training programs and curriculum for operational staff across manufacturing, engineering, quality, and support functions. This position is instrumental to ensure Terran team members are competent, qualified, and compliant when performing their functional responsibilities in accordance with work instructions, operational procedures and requirements, and technical specifications including, but are not limited to internal procedures, engineering instructions, customer contracts, and government regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Delivers, develops, and coordinates curriculum; conducts technical training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
  • Incorporates the fundamentals of instruction and adult learning methodologies and develops in-house training and development programs, learning aids, and activities to address learning needs.
  • Investigates and analyzes requirements and operating problems/trends and develops recommended learning solutions to meet safety and performance standards.
  • Develops and administers student hands-on practicum and examinations; periodically revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date.
  • Close coordination with Terran Orbital and Lockheed Martin topical subject matter experts to develop relevant Terran Orbital training material and content.
  • Maintains certification records for trained, qualified, and/or certified personnel.
  • Coordinates instructor-led training programs with customer and/or contractor personnel; standardizes user training, technical manuals, and other aspects of integrated logistics support.
  • Analyzes and recommends safety criteria in system procedures and design to control or eliminate hazards.
  • Investigates and resolves problem areas and participates with engineering, operations, and maintenance personnel to document technical solutions.
  • Coordinates with managers and supervisors to identify team member qualifications, certification, and training requirements, then establishes a training schedule to ensure initial and re-training needs are met.
  • Become an authorized or certified trainer when needed for specific topics (e.g. IPC-610/620, J STD 001).
  • Develop relationships with third-party trainers when in-house training is not practicable.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience developing and delivering formal training in relevant courses across EH&S, Quality, and manufacturing topical areas
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Broad technical knowledge and understanding of aerospace and electronics work practices and operating environments sufficient to develop and deliver credible training
  • General understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Experience using a knowledge/learning management system
  • Ability to become a certified IPC-610/620 and J STD 001 in house trainer.
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
  • Current certification as IPC-610/620 and/or J STD 001 trainer
  • Experience with AS9100 or ISO9001 training and qualification standards
  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree
  • Previous experience in a face-paced manufacturing environment
  • Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Hands-on experience training or performing aerospace assembly operations including staking, gasket installation, and torquing, with the ability to quickly adapt Terran Orbital specific methods and train both new hires and existing technical staff.

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Salary Range

$80,000 - $120,000 USD

Physical Demands
