Job summary

Gerber Collision & Glass in Huntington, WV is seeking a Technical Trainer to deliver targeted training, coach technicians, and collaborate with regional leadership to elevate repair skills. This role travels to repair centers to assess capabilities and provide coaching for efficiencies in the repair process.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years in the industry with training experience and a valid driver’s license; post-secondary education is preferred.

Qualifications

  • At least 5–7 years of industry experience.
  • At least 2 years experience delivering training is preferred.
  • Completed coursework at a post-secondary school preferred; must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Applicable industry certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical training courses in the assigned area.
  • Visit repair centers to assess technicians’ knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Provide coaching to technicians on applying skills and improving repair efficiency.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with QC processes and feedback to leadership.
  • Develop and improve technical training clinics for consistency across the network.

The technical trainer also works with regional and market leadership to bring forward issues that may improve the technical capabilities and skills within the markets.Key Job ResponsibilitiesEnsure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.Delivers technical training, courses in the assigned area of responsibility. Completes and retains all training documentation. Follows all company policies with regard to expense control and expense documentation and properly maintains company assets, including trainer’s tools and the companyVisits repair centers to assess technical capabilities, including individual technician’s knowledge, skills and abilities, through observation, experience, and dialogueProvides coaching to technicians regarding the application of technical skills and building efficiencies in the repair process. Works with technicians, repair center general managers, and market leaders to proactively recommend classes, that can help technicians improve their knowledge and skillsMonitor and coach for full compliance on our QC processes.Assesses the capabilities of the repair centers in the assigned area of responsibility to deliver complete and safe repairs by maintaining the proper repair tools and equipment. Provides documented feedback to the location, market and regional leadership when tools and equipment need to be upgraded or repaired.Assists in the development of technician trainees by working at a fixed training center and/or working with technician traineesDevelops and improves technical training clinics to teach repair skills. Works with the other technical trainers to ensure that a consistent message is being delivered across the network of repair.Keeps current on the latest advancements in repair processes and techniquesPerforms program assessments, training, coachingEducation and/or Experience RequiredAt least 5- 7 years experience industry experienceAt least 2 years experience delivering training is preferred.Completed course of studies at a post-secondary school preferred; must have a high school diploma or GED.Applicable industry certificationsAttends required continuing professional education.Required Skills/AbilitiesStrong verbal and written communication skills.High level of independently planning and organizing work with minimal supervision.Ability to communicate, motivate and cooperate with all levels of staffKnowledge of computer applications, including Internet, Google platform, and Microsoft Office applications.Other RequirementsMust possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company’s auto liability insurance policies.Must be able to travel up to 30%-70% including some overnight travel.Please note, this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
