Job summary

Penn State Harrisburg seeks a Technical Supervisor for the Mukund S. Kulkarni Theatre to provide advanced technical expertise and daily operational support for productions, campus events, and community performances.

The role requires flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, and supervision of student staff and contracted crews, in collaboration with the Technical Director and campus partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre, Theatre Production, Event Production, Arts Administration, or related field, plus 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience supervising student employees or production crews.
• Demonstrated experience in scenic construction, lighting, audio, video, stage operations, rigging, and streaming technologies.
• Operational knowledge of theatre operations, production coordination, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and safety.
• Strong communication, independent judgment, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead setup, operation, troubleshooting, and strike for productions and events.
• Operate lighting, audio, video, projection, staging, rigging, and streaming systems.
• Coordinate work calls, rehearsals, load-ins, strikes, and venue changeovers; participate in planning and evaluations.
• Construct, install, modify, and strike scenic elements; train and supervise student staff in shop safety.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain theatre systems and equipment; manage inventories.
