Job summary

Penn State University’s School of Theatre is seeking a Performing Arts Production Specialist to support Centre Stage, the School's award-winning production season and primary experiential learning environment. The role involves fabricating scenery, props, and production elements to enrich student experiences and engage audiences.

The incumbent will work closely with students, faculty, and production teams in a fast-paced, supportive environment to realize artistic visions.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience building scenery in a scene shop setting.
• Ability to independently fabricate wood and metal scenic elements from shop drawings using industry-standard techniques and tools.
• Candidates must be able to lift up to 75 pounds regularly, with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Execute the construction and fabrication of set pieces for theatrical productions and events.
• Coordinate and oversee fabrication projects.
• Generate and update inventory and inspection lists related to materials and equipment.
• Assist in the maintenance and storage of props, scenery, and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with building related laws and regulations, health, safety, and fire codes.
• Teach, supervise, mentor, and coach students and/or part-time workers in collaboration with students, faculty, and/or community members in the support of classes, productions, and performance.
