The Hartt School, a conservatory of music, dance, and theatre within the University of Hartford, invites applications for a Clinical/Applied Teaching Assistant Professor of Technical Theatre starting August 2027. You will teach undergraduate Technical Theater in the BFA program and mentor students through hands-on production experiences.

Ideal candidates hold an MFA or equivalent professional experience, demonstrate success mentoring undergraduates, uphold safety standards, and are proficient

Qualifications

• MFA in Technical Direction, Theatre Technology, Scenic Design, Lighting Design, or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven success teaching undergraduate students and leading student production crews.
• Experience supervising production processes with emphasis on safety.
• Proficiency with industry software such as Vectorworks, AutoCAD, and Show Control.

Responsabilités

• Teach technical theater to undergraduate students in the BFA program.
• Mentor students through classroom, lab, and production experiences.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive production environment and industry practices.
• Collaborate with faculty and production staff for mainstage and studio productions.
• Prepare students for careers via intensive hands-on training.
• Engage in department service, advising, and recruitment activities.
• Foster inclusive excellence and a diverse campus community.
• Demonstrate ongoing excellence in clinical/applied practice and service.
