Job summary

The Virginia Department of Taxation seeks a Technical Team Lead to drive modernization of tax return processing systems in Richmond. This hybrid role (3 days in office, 2 days remote) reports to the Office of Technology.

You will guide technical strategy, lead development efforts, and mentor teams to deliver scalable solutions. Responsibilities include collaborating with business and IT stakeholders, analyzing specifications, conducting unit tests, and ensuring high-quality code across systems

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Angular for UI development and Spring Boot for backend API design
• Hands-on experience integrating applications with Oracle databases and writing complex SQL
• Practical experience working within Agile or Scrum delivery frameworks
• Experience with Linux/Unix shell scripting or Windows PowerShell
• Prior work experience within Federal or State government (employee or contractor)
• Proven ability to analyze specifications, develop high-quality code, conduct unit testing, and troubleshoot integrated systems
