Newark, NJ & New York, NY

ABOUT TECHNO

With decades of experience delivering high-impact projects in water/wastewater, transportation, and public works, we partner with major agencies like NYCDDC, NYCDEP, and the Port Authority of NY & NJ to bring complex initiatives to life. As we expand into new markets and partnerships, Techno is positioned to lead the next generation of infrastructure development. Backed by deep technical expertise, a commitment to Total Quality Management, and a growing footprint that now includes offices in New York City, Princeton, Massachusetts, D.C., and Baltimore, we remain focused on delivering excellence, building lasting partnerships, and shaping resilient communities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Techno is seeking a Senior Rail Systems Integration Manager to support the Technical Division of a major regional transportation infrastructure program.

This is a highly strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the integration, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness of critical rail systems within a complex transportation environment.

This is not a traditional construction management position. We are seeking a senior technical professional who can provide program-level guidance across multiple disciplines while serving as a trusted advisor to agency leadership, contractors, engineering teams, and project stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience supporting rail systems within tunnel or underground environments and possess a deep understanding of life safety requirements, systems integration, and operational technologies.

This position will support project activities throughout New York City and New Jersey, and candidates should be comfortable traveling between project sites, agency offices, and stakeholder meetings as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Lead the integration and delivery of critical rail and transit systems throughout project execution.
  • Oversee installation activities associated with track systems, signaling, traction power, communications systems, and other operational technologies.
  • Direct testing and commissioning activities to ensure systems are fully operational and meet performance requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with contractors, engineering teams, agency representatives, and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with technical specifications, schedules, budgets, and contractual obligations.
  • Serve as a technical authority for systems integration and constructability challenges.
  • Oversee compliance with NFPA-130 requirements and applicable life safety standards.
  • Support emergency ventilation systems, fire protection systems, communications infrastructure, and emergency preparedness planning.
  • Participate in risk assessments and support development of contingency and response plans.
  • Facilitate technical reviews, executive-level meetings, and multidisciplinary coordination sessions.
  • Drive quality assurance initiatives and promote continuous improvement throughout project delivery.
  • Coordinate interfaces between engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance teams.
  • Support long-term operational planning and system turnover activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline required.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience supporting major rail, transit, or transportation infrastructure programs.
  • Extensive experience with rail systems, track, signaling, traction power, communications systems, installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Significant experience supporting tunnel or underground infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.
  • Must have prior experience supporting large public transportation agencies or comparable organizations responsible for complex rail and tunnel infrastructure programs.
  • Deep understanding of systems integration within complex transportation environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of NFPA-130 fire protection and life safety requirements.
  • Experience supporting emergency ventilation systems, fire suppression systems, and operational safety infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.

We offer not only a competitive salary but also a robust benefits package including enrollment in our 401(k)-retirement savings plan, comprehensive dental, health, and vision insurance coverage, as well as life insurance. Furthermore, employees are eligible for paid time off and the opportunity to earn bonus incentives.

Techno ensures that all applicants are considered for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran status, or disability status.

The expected salary range for this role in New Jersey is $90 - $140 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process.
