Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is seeking a Technical Support Specialist II to deliver advanced end-user computing support in the Radiation Oncology Clinic. This 100% onsite role covers desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, peripherals, software, networking, and telecommunications, with strong troubleshooting and a customer-focused approach.

The position requires after-hours flexibility and experience with ServiceNow is preferred; a High School diploma or equivalent is required,

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 Years Related Experience Required; coursework in related field may substitute.
  • Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Licenses: Texas Driver's License with MVR check and drivers training as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the full end user computing experience including computer hardware/software, printers, copiers, scanners, and mobile devices.
  • Diagnose and repair routine and complex end user problems; escalate to senior staff as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of end user devices and peripherals.
  • Lifecycle management of end user devices including deployment and decommissioning.
  • After-hours staff may work the Service Desk role as needed.
  • Advise customers on technology needs and provide vendor quotes.
  • Liaise with Information Resources, partner organizations, or vendors to ensure IT operations run smoothly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Technical Support Specialist II provides advanced technical support to faculty and staff within the Department of Radiation Oncology. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and supporting desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, peripherals, software, networking, and telecommunications systems while ensuring compliance with UT Southwestern Information Security standards. This position is 100% onsite in the Radiation Oncology Clinic and requires a dependable, customer-focused professional with strong troubleshooting skills, a solid work ethic, and flexibility to work outside normal business hours as needed. Experience with ServiceNow is preferred.

4 Years Related Experience Required. Additional coursework in a related field, such as computer science, management information systems, etc. may be considered on a year for year basis in lieu of stated minimum experience.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Licenses and Certifications If area of employment requires use of a University-owned vehicle, employee will be required to possess a valid Texas Drivers License, pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check, and complete drivers training (or van training, if applicable), in accordance with UTS Policy 157, appendix B within 30 Days

Job Duties
  • Supports the full end user computing experience to include computer hardware/software, printers, copiers, scanners, audio visual, mobile devices, etc...
  • Diagnose and repair routine & complex end user problems to remediation independently or by escalating to senior technical staff or other teams.
  • Performs preventative maintenance of end user devices and associated peripherals.
  • Lifecycle management of end user devices to include deployment and decommissioning of assets.
  • After hours staff will work the Service Desk role as needed.
  • Advise customers regarding their technology needs and provide the associated costs and vendor quotes.
  • Liaison between customer and Information Resources, partner organizations, or vendors to ensure the efficient operation of the end user computing environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
