Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a senior technical lead for offshore wind turbine service. You will provide technical leadership during the service phase and act as the primary liaison for Operations leadership, production engineers, supervisors, and technicians to ensure timely, safe interventions.

The role focuses on troubleshooting, managing technical cases and work orders, coordinating planning with offshore vessels, and driving improvements in controller, HMI, SCADA, and data analytics.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent wind training.
• 8 years of Offshore Wind Farm experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level remote, and periodic onsite, technical troubleshooting for turbine issues to service teams.
• Create and manage technical cases, work orders, and NCs per project and quality processes.
• Support WO readiness by defining priority and assisting back office with tooling and spares lists.
• Coordinate daily planning calls with offshore vessels to optimize next-day activities.
• Collaborate with design and support teams to develop troubleshooting guides for service independence.
• Lead improvements affecting controller, HMI, or SCADA functions for field operations.
• Drive process improvements focusing on digitalization, data analytics, and EHS compliance.
• Analyze data for safety and quality improvements, focusing on warning systems and controls.

Job Description

The role involves providing technical leadership and expertise for service phase of Offshore Wind Turbine projects. This includes acting as first contact for Service operations leadership and Production Engineers but also Supervisors in SOV and technicians in turbine to secure efficient interventions as well as acting as main focal point for continuous improvement on technical preparation of service activities.

Significant Activities:

• Provide first-level remote, as periodically onsite, technical troubleshooting for turbine issues to services teams teams within scope and upscale or redirect to the appropriate technical specialists when required ensuring commissioning timelines related to turbine controller.
• Create and manage technical cases, work orders, and Non-Conformities (NCs) for instructions updates, tools updates, troubleshooting guides updates or customer technical querys in line with project and quality processes.
• Support on Work Orders (WO) readiness defining priority and assist back office purchasing team with tooling and spares lists to smooth daily planning and execution.
• Coordinate daily planning calls with offshore vessels to support execution planning and optimize activities for the following day
• Collaborate with design and technical support teams to develop worldclass troubleshooting guides to reinforce service technical independence and boost daily efficiency.
• Lead technical and operational improvements affecting main controller, HMI or SCADA functions for technician operations as well as site specific operations as Grid outages
• Drive process improvements focusing on digitalization, data analytics, and EHS compliance.
• Analyze data for continuous improvement in operational safety and quality. Special focus on warnings analysis and control improvements on the overall warnings strategies.

Working Relationships:

Reports to Technical Support Leader; supports Operations execution teams, both supervisors and technician working locally in turbines or remotely in Remote Operation Center. Holds strong relationship with Control team within Engineering organization.

Required Qualifications:

• Associates Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering (OR High school diploma and advanced Wind training and experience)
• 8 years of Offshore Wind Farm experience.

Desired Skills:

• Proven track record in wind turbine operation and troubleshooting is mandatory.
• Strong understanding of wind turbine systems including electrical, mechanical, controls and network and communication systems.
• Offshore wind experience is highly desirable due to logistical complexity and offshore operational challenges
• Experience with continuous improvement and quality tools applied to service operations.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility, motivation, and ability to work under pressure with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Strong communication, goal-driven and team-player skills.
• Understanding of English language for global procedures.
