Job summary

Lucid Motors is seeking a senior role in the Polymer Technology team to own coverstock materials and processing from concept to launch.

The position involves leading material specification, testing, and design optimization while collaborating with design engineers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams globally.

Qualifications

• B.S. in polymer engineering, textile engineering, material science or related field.
• 8+ years’ experience in coverstock materials and automotive development.
• Experience leading material selection and shaping material/design/process/tooling strategy.
• Automotive development environment through complete product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead coverstock development and implementation, covering materials specification and testing.
• Collaborate with design engineers and suppliers throughout product development.
• Write and maintain standardization documents for coverstock materials and processes.

The Role:

• Be a significant contributor to a world-classorganizationby supportingthe organizationwithcoverstockexpertise,and owningallaspects related to coverstock materials,application, andprocessingfromconcept phase to product launch.
• The role issituated inthe Polymer Technology teamthatclosely collaborates with design engineers and suppliers throughouttheproduct development process (optimizing part function, efficiency, and cost). Itreportsdirectly to theTeam Lead, andownsallmaterial attributesrelated to coverstock materials and processing. Day-to-day workinvolvescross-functionalinteractionwithgroupsacross the organization(e.g.design engineers,design studio, supply chain, industrialization, quality, legal), and external vendors (material/coverstock suppliers, part/system suppliers).
• Leadcoverstock development and implementation,covering materialspecification,vetting/selection/qualification, design optimization,testing,as well as DFMandprocess improvements.
• Utilizeunderstandingofmaterials (polymers,coverstocks), along withprocessingexperiencefortechnical guidanceand educationof the organization,problem solving,andholisticdecision-makingprocesses.
• Write and maintainstandardization documentsforcoverstock materialsandprocessesrequirements.

Qualifications:

• B.S.in polymer engineering,textile engineering,material scienceor related field
• 8+ years’ experience,supporting multiple systemsacross the vehiclein aspects ofcoverstockmaterials, engineering design, tooling, process and testing.Experienceofresponsibilityleading material selection and shaping material/design/process/toolingstrategy
• Must have worked in automotive development environment through complete product development processfrom concept tolaunch
• Good knowledge ofcoverstockmaterials (coated rolled goods (e.g. PUR, PVC, TPO), woventextiles, non-wovens(e.g.needlefelts))
• Proven experience developing new coverstock construction specific to automotiveseating and trimapplications
• Familiar withflat stockrequirements(incl their relation tocomponent/system requirements), andpartdesign rulesfor function, manufacturing, and cost optimization
• Hands-on experiencewithsecondary processes (e.g. lamination, wrapping, glueing/welding, back-injection)
• Confidence selecting material characterization standards to compiletest programs for material qualification/validation and principal testing
• Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
• Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% if needed

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$166,500 - $244,200 USD

Compensation & Benefits: Lucid offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays, paid sick leave; and a401(k) retirementplan. Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off.Eligible employees may alsoparticipatein Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program. Incentive and equity awards, if applicable, aredeterminedbased on individual performance, role scope, market considerations, and overall company results,in accordance withthe terms of the applicable plans.
