Job summary

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience or higher; or Bachelor’s or MS degree; or 5 years of related technical experience.
  • Understanding of fundamental concepts in area of expertise.
  • Ability to apply sound and diverse knowledge of principles and practices in the technical area.
  • Proven computer skills relevant to the area of expertise.
  • Time management with ability to plan and prioritize to meet goals/deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent research and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Position Overview:

This is the second level of the Technical Specialist classification. Provide technical expertise and judgment in the application of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures related to a technical field of specialization (i.e., biology, GIS, environmental science, etc) with some supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop skills in their area of expertise, and the ability to work with greater independence.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • independent technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of more complex technical problems


  • assistance in training less experienced technical specialists


  • effective planning, organizing, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities


  • complete and accurate highly technical documents such as summary reports, correspondence, specifications, procedures, and statistical analyses


  • continuous improvement of job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance


  • effective oral and written communication skills


  • maintain accurate records and files


  • support of the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally



Requirements


  • Associate’s Degree in area of expertise with 2 years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree or Advanced degree (MS); or 5 years of relevant technical experience


  • Understanding of fundamental concepts in area of expertise


  • Ability to apply sound and diversified knowledge of the principles and practices of the technical area


  • Proven Computer skills appropriate for area of expertise


  • Time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize work activities to meet goals and deadlines


  • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
