Job summary

PLP is seeking a Technical Solutions Manager to provide technical expertise across the sales cycle and ensure successful product deployments for customers in the United States. You will train customers, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with sales, field teams, and product management to maximize product value.

The role emphasizes strong communication, hands-on problem solving, and travel up to 75% to support distributors, contractors, and end customers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma; associate degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in technical sales support, customer solutions, engineering, telecom or related industry.
  • Experience with customers, distributors, contractors, and sales teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Technical Solutions Manager is responsible for providing technical expertise and support to customers before, during, and after the sales process. This role serves as a key liaison between customers, sales teams, and product management to ensure successful product deployment, customer satisfaction, and long-term relationship development. The Technical Solutions Manager delivers product training, addresses technical challenges, identifies new business opportunities, and helps customers maximize the value of PLP products through effective application and support.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide technical support to customers before and after the sale of PLP products.
  • Conduct product training programs and demonstrations to ensure customers can effectively and safely utilize products and solutions.
  • Assist customers in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to product application and performance.
  • Partner closely with Field Sales teams to identify customer needs and recommend effective product solutions for end customers, distributors, and contractors.
  • Support sales efforts through technical presentations, product evaluations, and application guidance.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of PLP products, applications, and customer use cases.
  • Analyze customer requirements and market conditions to recommend the most effective strategies to increase adoption of PLP products.
  • Work closely with Product Management to investigate market trends, customer feedback, and product-related issues.
  • Evaluate product performance in the field and provide detailed reports and recommendations to support product improvements and innovation.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer activities, technical support cases, and business development opportunities.
  • Prepare and submit trip reports, customer visit summaries, and project updates as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Minimum of high school diploma; an associate's degree in a technical field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical sales support, customer solutions, engineering, telecommunications, utility infrastructure, or a related industry preferred.
  • Experience working directly with customers, distributors, contractors, and sales organizations.
  • Experience with industry-related products is a plus; PLP products are preferred.
  • Ability to use a computer and applications including the Microsoft suite of products/software
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written situations involving customers, internal personnel, manufacturing reps and customers and possesses a diplomatic approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent presentation, training, and customer engagement skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude and ability to perform strenuous work as required to demonstrate product installations
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and comply with the provisions of PLP's auto program in addition to traveling by air.
  • Must be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
Travel:
  • Ability to travel 75% of the time
Schedule:
  • Standard office hours with flextime, when not traveling
