Job description

The Technical Solutions Architect will design secure, compliant, and technically sound solutions for U.S. Federal Government customers and support the development of competitive government proposals.

This role requires a strong cybersecurity and systems architecture background, knowledge of Federal and DoD requirements, and the ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical solutions and clear, compelling proposal content. Experience with Security Operations, security engineering, artificial intelligence, automation, and emerging technologies is highly desirable.

The position works closely with engineering, cybersecurity, program management, proposal teams, partners, and company leadership.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Solution Development
  • Develop technical solutions for Federal opportunities involving cybersecurity, cloud, systems engineering, infrastructure, Security Operations, artificial intelligence, automation, and IT modernization.
  • Analyze RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, PWSs, SOWs, and SOOs and translate requirements into executable technical approaches. Develop solution architectures, implementation approaches, technical roadmaps, transition strategies, and supporting diagrams.
  • Evaluate technologies, platforms, tools, and architectures based on security, cost, scalability, implementation risk, and customer requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to incorporate AI, generative AI, machine learning, analytics, and automation into Federal cybersecurity and mission solutions where appropriate.
  • Develop or integrate Security Operations and security engineering capabilities, including SIEM, SOAR, EDR, threat detection, vulnerability management, incident response, continuous monitoring, and security automation.
  • Evaluate AI-enabled cybersecurity capabilities for use cases such as threat detection, alert triage, vulnerability prioritization, incident response, operational automation, and decision support.
  • Identify technical risks, assumptions, dependencies, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure proposed solutions are practical, supportable, secure, and aligned with program objectives.
Cybersecurity and Federal Compliance
  • Incorporate security-by-design, Zero Trust, defense-in-depth, and risk-based engineering principles into technical solutions.
  • Apply working knowledge of Federal cybersecurity requirements, including:
  • NIST SP 800-53 and NIST SP 800-171
  • CMMC
  • FISMA
  • FedRAMP
  • DoD cybersecurity requirements and STIGs
  • Zero Trust
  • Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
  • FAR and DFARS cybersecurity requirements
  • Understand the Authority to Operate (ATO) process and security documentation such as SSPs, POA&Ms, security assessments, and authorization packages.
  • Ensure solutions address identity and access management, vulnerability management, continuous monitoring, logging, incident response, configuration management, data protection, endpoint security, threat detection, and security operations.
  • Incorporate security engineering principles into system architecture, cloud environments, network design, system hardening, secure configuration, and security control implementation.

Address AI security and governance considerations, including protection of sensitive data, access controls, secure integration, model risk, appropriate use of government data, and responsible AI practices.

Collaborate with cybersecurity SMEs, security engineers, SOC personnel, ISSOs, ISSMs, engineers, and system owners during solution development.

Government Proposal Development
  • Serve as a technical solution lead or technical volume lead for Federal proposals.
  • Develop clear, compliant, evaluator-focused technical proposal content.
  • Translate complex cybersecurity, engineering, Security Operations, AI, automation, and cloud concepts into concise proposal narratives.
  • Develop technical approaches, architectures, cybersecurity
  • strategies, implementation plans, transition approaches, risk strategies, and technical discriminators.
  • Develop proposal solutions that appropriately incorporate AI-enabled capabilities, security automation, SOC modernization, threat detection, vulnerability management, and security engineering when aligned with customer requirements.
  • Ensure proposal content addresses solicitation requirements, instructions, and evaluation criteria.
  • Participate in proposal solutioning, storyboarding, Pink Team, Red Team, Gold Team, and other proposal reviews.
  • Review and improve technical content developed by engineers and subject matter experts.
  • Support development of architecture diagrams, process flows, oral presentations, and technical demonstrations.
  • Ensure technical commitments made in proposals are realistic and executable following award.
Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, systems engineering, solution architecture, security architecture, security engineering, Security Operations, cloud architecture, or enterprise IT.
  • Strong cybersecurity background with experience designing or supporting secure government or enterprise systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NIST RMF and Federal cybersecurity requirements.
  • Experience with Security Operations and security engineering concepts, including SIEM, SOAR, EDR, threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, continuous monitoring, security automation, and secure architecture.
  • Working knowledge of AI, generative AI, machine learning, intelligent automation, or AI-enabled cybersecurity solutions and their application within Federal or regulated environments.
  • Ability to identify practical AI and automation use cases and incorporate them into secure, supportable technical solutions. Experience supporting U.S. Federal Government programs, technical solutions, or competitive procurements.
  • Experience analyzing government solicitations, including RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, PWSs, SOWs, and SOOs.
  • Demonstrated experience developing technical solutions and writing technical content for Federal Government proposals. Strong technical writing skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to government evaluators.
  • Experience developing solution architectures, technical approaches, implementation strategies, and technical diagrams.
  • Knowledge of cloud, cybersecurity, enterprise infrastructure, Security Operations, security engineering, AI, automation, IT modernization, and related technologies.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Zero Trust, ICAM, SIEM, SOAR, EDR, DevSecOps, generative AI platforms, vulnerability management, continuous monitoring, and GRC technologies is preferred.
  • Experience supporting DoD, Department of the Air Force, Department of the Army, Department of the Navy, DHS, civilian Federal agencies, or Intelligence Community customers is preferred.
  • Experience serving as a Technical Solutions Architect, Cybersecurity Architect, Security Architect, Security Engineer, SOC Architect, Chief Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Technical Volume Lead, or similar role is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Shipley or similar Federal proposal development methodologies is preferred.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM, SecurityX/CASP+, Security+, AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect, GIAC, relevant AI/cloud certifications, or PMP are preferred.
  • Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under demanding proposal deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
