Job summary

Blue Sky Innovators, Inc. is seeking a Subject Matter Expert SETA to provide technical expertise for a government client involved in solar propulsion and solar sail technology. The role focuses on monitoring progress, anticipating challenges, and advising the Program Manager to advance the program toward success.

The candidate will contribute technical analysis, engage DoD stakeholders, and prepare work products for program reviews, with on-site support preferred and a TS clearance required.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years experience in one or more of the listed areas: astrodynamics, solar sail technology, space propulsion development, space launch coordination and planning, space operations, hardware testing, space-based communications, space-based PNT, control systems, SSA, space to space imaging technology, space system development (as applicable).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Self-starter who can both lead and support in a team in a complex, fast-paced environment.
• TS Clearance (Top Secret clearance) required or preferred.

• Evaluate technical reports, briefings, and performer communications and create plans to address issues.
• Engage stakeholders and collaborators across DoD agencies and services.
• Prepare DARPA work products, including presentations and reports.

Blue Sky Innovators is seeking a Subject Matter Expert SETA who will provide technical expertise for our government client. This client program develops solar propulsion technology and demonstrates the ability of solar sails to enable presence in cislunar space while carrying useful payloads.

The ideal candidate actively monitors technical progress, anticipates challenges, and proactively works with the Program Manager to overcome obstacles and drive the program toward success. The candidate will participate in activities related to their area of technical expertise and actively provide analysis and recommendations on performer progress, results, and program plan.

The ideal candidate should possess technical research, development, and engineering experience in at least one topic that is relevant to the program. The program is specifically seeking candidates with experience in one or more of the following: astrodynamics, solar sail technology, space propulsion development, space launch coordination and planning, space operations, hardware testing, space-based communications, space-based Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT), control systems, Space Situational Awareness (SSA), space to space imaging technology, space system development

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Self-starter who is willing to both take the lead and provide support in a team role in a complex, fast-paced, cross-disciplinary work environment
• TS Clearance

Desired capabilities and characteristics include:

• Experience working with or for relevant program transition partners including organizations within USSF, NASA, and USAF
• Prior experience working programs at DARPA as a technical and program management support contractor
• Knowledge of DARPA processes and procedures
• Excellent communication skills – both written (to include PowerPoint) and oral
• Level of effort may vary depending on role
• On-site support is desired.

Salary range for the position is $145,000 - $200,000 per year. Specific compensation will be determined by several factors including experience, education, skills, and knowledge. We also offer medical/dental/vision benefits and 401k contribution.
