Job summary

Worley is seeking a Technical Services Manager to lead technical services across complex projects, bridging strategy and execution. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, align resources with objectives, and drive continuous improvement in safety, quality and performance across energy, chemicals, and resources sectors.

You will influence project delivery, develop high-performing teams, and build strong customer relationships while delivering value and sustainable business outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in relevant fields.
  • 10+ years of leadership, project management, and technical/operational responsibilities.
  • Proven success leading teams within EPC, energy, chemicals, resources, or industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, governance, and business processes.
  • Ability to make independent decisions in dynamic environments.
  • Experience delivering large projects or major project components.
  • Knowledge of systems, tools, processes and technologies for technical services.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate data and propose solutions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership with coaching and accountability.

Responsibilities

Technical Services Manager

Play an integral role in advancing technical excellence and operational performance across complex projects and programs. As Technical Services Manager, you will bridge strategic business objectives with practical execution, ensuring technical teams, systems, and processes consistently deliver value for customers and support successful project outcomes.

This leadership role provides the opportunity to influence project delivery, drive continuous improvement, develop high-performing teams, and contribute to the successful execution of projects across the energy, chemicals, and resources sectors. You will serve as a trusted technical leader, helping transform strategic direction into actionable plans that enhance operational effectiveness, strengthen customer relationships, and support sustainable business growth.

Purpose of the role

The Technical Services Manager is responsible for leading technical service functions, teams, and initiatives that support the successful delivery of projects and business operations. The role combines technical leadership, operational management, and strategic execution to ensure technical resources, systems, processes, and capabilities align with organizational priorities and customer requirements.

Working across functions and disciplines, you will guide the implementation of business objectives, develop practical solutions to complex challenges, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement. Your leadership will help ensure technical excellence while driving operational efficiency and long-term business success.

You will be responsible for

  • Leading technical services teams and managing day-to-day operations to support project and business objectives.
  • Translating business strategy and organizational priorities into tactical plans, implementation activities, and measurable outcomes.
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary teams across engineering, operations, project delivery, and support functions.
  • Managing project-related processes, policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with company standards and customer expectations.
  • Supporting the planning, execution, and successful delivery of projects while balancing safety, quality, schedule, cost, and performance objectives.
  • Driving operational excellence initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency, standardization, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluating complex technical and operational issues, performing detailed analysis, and implementing practical, sustainable solutions.
  • Leading and developing supervisors, technical professionals, and project teams to maximize engagement, capability, and performance.
  • Building strong relationships with customers, project stakeholders, and business leaders to support collaborative project execution.
  • Preparing and presenting proposals, business cases, reports, technical recommendations, and performance updates to leadership and customers.
  • Monitoring key performance indicators and identifying opportunities to improve technical delivery and business outcomes.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Typically 10+ years of relevant experience, including leadership, project management, technical, operational, or supervisory responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and managing technical or operational functions within EPC, energy, chemicals, resources, industrial, infrastructure, or related environments.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, operational management, technical governance, and business processes.
  • Proven ability to make independent decisions and manage priorities within complex and dynamic environments.
  • Experience managing projects or significant portions of large projects while delivering against performance expectations.
  • Advanced knowledge of systems, tools, processes, and technologies relevant to technical services and project execution.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data, develop conclusions, and implement effective business solutions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with experience developing people, coaching teams, and driving accountability.
