Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist at New Value Solutions Group

New Value Solutions, a international consulting firm specializing in technology and engineering solutions, is seeking a Technical Services Engineer to support our customer in the electric power systems industry. This role involves providing technical support, application expertise, and on-site/off-site assistance for protection relays and disturbance recorders. The ideal candidate will be deeply experienced in power system protection, passionate about customer success, and comfortable working independently on complex technical challenges.

As a key member of the team, you will help customers successfully implement products, participate in technical discussions to guide product features, and provide expert input into training, support documentation, and sales proposals. You’ll also collaborate with internal teams and represent the company at industry forums such as NASPI and IEEE PSRC. This is a customer-facing role based in Houston, TX with an average of 20% travel. (Canada, U.S., international)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and product expertise to customers through site visits, training sessions, phone/email, and Webex.
  • Guide customers in the proper application of protection relays and recorders, including installation, commissioning, and operational support.
  • Assist in preparing proposals and technical documentation to support sales and marketing activities.
  • Translate customer needs into product feature requests and support the development team with actionable insights.
  • Deliver technical presentations and represent the company at industry events and professional organizations.
  • Create and maintain application notes, white papers, manuals, and user documentation.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and marketing teams to deliver integrated customer solutions.
  • Act as a secondary point of contact for customer engagements focused on technical matters.
  • Maintain and grow expertise in ERLPhase product lines and general protection and automation practices.
  • Manage assigned projects and tasks, ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery within budget.
  • Participate in continuous learning and professional development activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with mid-high voltage protective relays and digital fault recorders.
  • Working knowledge of electric power transmission, distribution, and generation systems.
  • Familiarity with protection system design and implementation, including fault analysis, EMTP, load flow, and short-circuit studies.
  • Experience supporting customers in a technical capacity, preferably at utilities or engineering firms.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience in training or technical presentations.
  • Strong teamwork, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with business and engineering software tools.
  • Must pass background check and drug screening.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and travel to Canada and Internationally without restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with protection relays and recording equipment.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus) and system integration.
  • Experience participating in or leading engineering project teams.
  • Involvement in technical societies or standards committees (e.g., IEEE, NASPI).
