Position Title: Technical Services Coordinator

Summary of Job Responsibilities:
Under general direction, plans, organizes and directs the ordering, cataloging, and processing of library materials and the automated functions of the library system. Work involves placing orders for library materials and receiving and checking shipments from publishers, cataloging materials, and making materials shelf-ready and maintaining the library’s automated system.

Job Duties:

  1. Catalogs library materials.
  2. Establishes, monitors, and evaluates overall program of service for Technical Services division.
  3. Develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures for Technical Services.
  4. Develops and maintains the library automation system and automated administrative functions.
  5. Seeks department-related grant opportunities.
  6. Regularly visits member libraries.
  7. Reads professional literature and attends workshops to maintain an awareness of current library issues and trends affecting all library departments.
  8. Performs related work as required.

Supervisory Authority:
Supervises department clerks.

Work Environment:
Work in a library environment; sustained posture in a standing or seated position for prolonged periods of time; perform lifting, crouching, and pushing; may travel to other locations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited college or university with an emphasis in cataloging or any equivalent combination of education and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as approved by the Director. Minimum two years library experience.

Work location is at Nioga Library System Headquarters. Travel to member libraries is required.

New York State driver license and access to vehicle required.
