Job summary

Responsibilities

Provide a wide array of access and technical services for the Library.
Process interlibrary lending and borrowing requests using advanced resource sharing techniques.
Search and download articles from library online databases for document delivery, complying with copyright regulations and licensing.
Answer questions/resolve issues from library patrons using multiple systems.
Participate in library projects and initiatives.
Engage in learning opportunities with other Library areas to broaden knowledge of services.
Manage Course Reserve requests for various formats from faculty and review reserves at semester end.
Process physical items into collection and update library metadata in the ILS.
Receive and process serial issues, reconcile against purchasing records.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Provides access to materials that are critical to the teaching, learning, and research mission of the university. Responsible for the day-to-day processing of digital and physical material requests. Provides access and technical services support to GT library patrons, including cataloging, acquisitions, course reserves, and resource sharing. Individual responsibilities will vary. This position will interact on a regular basis with: faculty, students, staff, unit management, vendors. This position typically will advise and counsel: faculty, students, unit staff. Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 –Provide a wide array of access and technical services for the Library. The duties to follow cover the key responsibilities for the department as a whole; individual responsibilities will vary.
Job Duty 2 –Process interlibrary lending and borrowing requests using advanced resource sharing techniques.
Job Duty 3 –Search and download articles from library online databases for document delivery. Maintain compliance with copyright regulations and licensing agreements.
Job Duty 4 –Answer questions/resolve issues from library patrons. Use a variety of library-specific software programs to process requests, switching between multiple systems.
Job Duty 5 –Participate in a variety of library projects and initiatives.
Job Duty 6 –Engage in learning opportunities with other Library areas to gain a broader knowledge of the services the organization provides.
Job Duty 7 –Manage Course Reserve requests for various formats from faculty. Review titles on Reserve at semester end to determine appropriate removals. Maintain compliance with copyright regulations and licensing agreements.
Job Duty 8 –Process physical items into collection. Copy catalog library material of various formats following existing national standards and local practices. Update library metadata such as bibliographic, item, and holding records in the integrated library system.
Job Duty 9 –Receive and process serial issues. Receive, check-in, and reconcile materials received against purchasing records. Input invoices.
Job Duty 10 –Perform other related duties as assigned.

Technical Diploma, Associate’s degree, or two years college work or equivalent combination of education and experience

SKILLS
Specialized skills required: knowledge of library principles, practices, and terminology; ability to search library bibliographic databases and interpret findings; intermediate knowledge of office related computer applications; ability to work independently, collaboratively and in teams within the Library; maintain professional customer relations; strong written and verbal communication skills; maintain concentration on detailed information over an extended period of time; ability to effectively switch tasks; and, the capability to independently learn new technologies and their applications in libraries.

Specialized skills preferred: Working knowledge of OCLC interfaces and software; experience using Alma/Primo; familiarity with ILL and circulation workflows, policies and procedures; and library experience working in technical services.
