Job summary

DuPont's Vespel® lab in Valley View, Ohio seeks a Lab Technician to support the Aerospace Dry Wear & Friction COE. You will perform mechanical, thermal, and wear testing under TS&D guidance and help ensure timely results for material and application development.

Ideal candidates hold an associate degree in a technical field, demonstrate strong reading of technical documents, and work effectively in a fast-paced lab environment. Proficiency with MS Office and safety culture is expected.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical documents, customer specifications and test reports.
  • Bias for action, integrity, strong interpersonal skills, solid time management skills, ability to work with minimal supervision, and superior communication skills are required competencies.
  • Experience in a lab environment with MTS Load Frames (Static and Dynamic TestSuite™ Software), Perkin Elemer TMA, TGA, DMA.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PP, Microsoft Work, and Sharepoint).
  • Experience in a lab environment with safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to DuPont Core Values, Respect for People, Highest Ethical Behavior and Protecting the Plant with a high degree of focus on Safety and Heath
  • Perform lab tasks with guidance from TS&D in the following areas: Conduct application specific, mechanical, thermal, and friction & wear tests
  • Report data and store per internal guidance
  • Adhere to Test Methods and Industry test standards
  • Support R&D on material development testing
  • Support TS&D and Operations on failure analysis and material characterization
  • Work with local machine shop(s) for test fixtures and samples
  • Lead and coordinate external testing requests
  • Perform part performance analysis on specialized test equipment (Aerospace Specific)
  • Support TS&D with product evaluations, data generation programs, laboratory designed functional testing in support of business objectives
  • Continuously improve COE capabilities, lead new capability proposal process, workflow processes, and safety culture
  • Prepare data with guidance from TS&D, for product literature, sales tools and case stories for new and existing products
  • Prepare customer and internal Test Reports as necessary and be able to understand and discuss results as dictated by business needs

This position works closely with TS&D and R&D to ensure timely results of testing in support of both material and application developments.

The location for this position is at the Valley View Plant, in Valley View, Ohio.

DuPont offers Vespel® parts and shapes that meet stringent requirements for weight reduction, long service life, chemical exposure, low friction, and/or extreme temperatures. These parts and shapes, many of which are manufactured from high-performance polyimide resins, range from seal rings to engine clamps and replace metal and ceramics for lower cost of ownership and better durability. Global markets include the aerospace, semiconductor, industrial, and transportation industries.
