Job summary

Amcor is seeking a Level II Packaging Equipment Technician to provide efficient and timely technical assistance to assigned customers in operations and to support quality and performance improvements.

The role requires mechanical and electrical aptitude to troubleshoot packaging machines and occasional collaboration with management for difficult issues.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years experience in food packaging industry (material & machinery).
• Willing to travel 60% or more and holds a valid driver's license.
• Great verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities.
• Understands customer requirements relating to problems to products and equipment.
• Services customer equipment to maintain optimum performance of equipment, packaging films and shrink bag materials.
• Identifies machinery and packaging film/shrink bag problems and communicates to staff.
• Maintains accurate reports on work activities and time utilization.
• Performs package/shrink bag and machine audits on packaging machines.
• Participates in field trials of new packaging materials.
• Assists in installation and start-up of packaging equipment.
• Provides input into design, installation and start-up of equipment from outside suppliers or R&D.
• Schedules own time and travel and prioritizes customer calls.
• Conducts training for customers on operation and maintenance of equipment and Amcor film.
• Assists on projects and may lead smaller tasks within a project.
• Works on special projects as assigned.
• Establishes and maintains relations with customers, sales personnel and internal staff.
• Completes KMS reporting within 5 days, expense reports within a month of travel, weekly schedules within time frame.

To provide efficient and timely technical assistance to assigned customers in matters relating to their packaging equipment operations and to facilitate customer quality and packaging performance improvement. Level II: Possess a mechanical and electrical technical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot most packaging machine issues. Occasionally requires management support to handle difficult issues.

• Provides input, as requested, into the design, installation and start-up of packaging equipment manufactured by outside suppliers or RE&D.
• Responsible for scheduling own time and travel and determining priority of customer calls.
• Conducts training for the customers on proper operation and maintenance of equipment and Amcor film.
• Assists on projects and may take the lead on smaller tasks within an overall project.
• Works on special projects as assigned.
• Establishes and maintains effective relations with customers, sales personnel and internal Amcor staff personnel.
• Completes KMS reporting within 5 days, completes expense reports within a month of business trip and turns in weekly schedules within designated time frame.
