As the Technical Sales Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting technical pre-sales activities within your region, working closely with the regional sales team and leadership. You will be the NGS subject matter expert for our NGS solutions offerings and sharing that knowledge through customer meetings, seminars, webinars, and other activities. You will also be instrumental in closing the sales along with the regional sales team to achieve your annual sales target.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with our sales team and leaders to generate/qualify/close sales opportunities.
- Work with product management/R&D/applications/marketing/field sales to develop and disseminate technical content, strategy, collaborations, and go-to market activities.
- Maintain appropriate records and provide relevant information to help forecast business as needed.
- Proactively gather, process, and disseminate competitive intelligence and market feedback both to field sales as well as internal product management colleagues.
- Provide weekly, monthly business/activity reports, as required.
- Coordinate and/or conduct technical and promotional seminars, trade shows, vendor shows, and related activities as deemed necessary.
- Achieve assigned District sales goals by calling on existing and potential new customers via field visits, email, telephone, video conference, etc.
- Work closely with sales executives to develop account growth, penetration, and support activities.
- Provide mentorship, technical training, and education to colleagues and/or customers as applicable.

- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to build relationships at all levels.
Work Location & Travel
- Location: Remote-eligible for candidates based in key East Coast life sciences hubs, including New York City, Philadelphia, Greater Boston, Washington D.C./Baltimore, and Research Triangle Park (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Area).
- Territory: East Coast Life Sciences Corridor, including NY, Philadelphia, Boston, D.C./Baltimore, and RTP.
- Travel: >80% within the region for customer engagement, demonstrations, events, and market development.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in NGS, including sample prep, library creation, sequencing, basic data analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with laboratory automation is a plus.
- Background in immunology, cell biology, oncology, or molecular biology.
- Ability to present technical information effectively in various formats.
- Knowledge of sales processes and closing techniques.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences required; PhD preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $100,000 - $160,000 DOE.
