POSITION

Ramona is seeking a Technical Sales Representative – Microscopy to expand adoption of our next-generation imaging platforms across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic research organizations.

Reporting to the Sales Director, you will own customer development and sales execution within your assigned territory. You will work alongside a cross-functional commercial team of Marketers, Field Application Scientists, and Software Engineers to bring Ramona’s disruptive microscopy technology to market. Together, you will identify high-value customer opportunities, demonstrate the scientific and commercial impact of our platforms, and help researchers adopt new imaging capabilities that can transform their workflows.

This is a highly technical, customer-facing role requiring a combination of microscopy expertise, scientific curiosity, commercial judgment, and the ability to manage complex capital-equipment sales. The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between detailed scientific conversations at the bench and strategic discussions with senior scientific and business decision-makers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Scientific Selling
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer research objectives, imaging workflows, and experimental challenges, and connect those needs to Ramona’s technology.
  • Lead technically sophisticated product presentations, demonstrations, and application discussions.
  • Partner with Field Application Scientists and technical teams on evaluations and proof-of-concept studies that demonstrate scientific value.
  • Build credibility with scientists and research leaders while clearly communicating the technical and commercial value of Ramona’s platforms.
  • Manage opportunities through technical evaluation, proposal, negotiation, procurement, and close.
Territory Management
  • Develop and execute a territory plan to achieve revenue, pipeline, and customer acquisition goals.
  • Proactively generate new opportunities through outbound prospecting, account research, networking, conferences, referrals, and targeted follow-up.
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities across pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO, academic, and research organizations.
  • Maintain disciplined opportunity management, forecasting, and activity tracking in Salesforce.
  • Develop long-term customer relationships that support repeat business, references, and account expansion.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Marketing, Field Applications, Software, Product, Engineering, and leadership to advance customer opportunities and support successful adoption.
  • Provide structured feedback on customer requirements, competitive technologies, emerging applications, and market trends.
  • Represent Ramona at conferences, workshops, customer meetings, and other industry events to strengthen market presence and identify new opportunities.
ABOUT YOU

You combine meaningful hands-on microscopy experience with commercial experience and enjoy solving complex scientific problems with customers. You can quickly understand an experimental workflow, ask technically credible questions, and connect scientific challenges to the capabilities of a sophisticated imaging platform.

Just as importantly, you are comfortable creating opportunities rather than waiting for them to arrive. This role requires sustained, disciplined lead-generation activity, and the ideal candidate is motivated by building a territory from the ground up. You are willing to spend a meaningful portion of your time identifying target accounts, researching relevant scientists and programs, conducting outbound outreach, following up persistently, and developing new relationships before an active purchasing project exists.

You are comfortable balancing this prospecting discipline with technically demanding customer conversations and longer-term deal development. You operate independently in the field while collaborating closely with a small, fast-moving team, and you bring rigor to pipeline management and forecasting without losing the scientific curiosity required to sell emerging technology.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years of technical microscopy experience through scientific research, Field Applications Scientist experience, microscopy applications work, or an equivalent technical role.
  • 3+ years of experience in a commercial environment, including Sales, Field Applications, Business Development, or a similar customer-facing role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of modern optical microscopy techniques and biological imaging workflows.
  • Experience communicating complex scientific or technical concepts to researchers and other technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to perform consistent outbound prospecting and independently generate new sales opportunities.
  • Strong written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple customer opportunities and priorities across a geographic territory.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75%, including internationally.
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Neuroscience, or a related life-science discipline.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Master's degree or PhD in Biology or a related scientific discipline.
  • Experience commercializing emerging or novel biotechnology tools, particularly where significant customer education or market development was required.
  • Direct sales experience with scientific capital equipment, microscopy platforms, imaging systems, high-content screening systems, or other complex life-science instrumentation.
  • Experience managing long, technically complex sales cycles involving scientific evaluation and multiple organizational stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, sales forecasting, and procurement processes.
  • Experience navigating capital-equipment purchasing processes within pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, universities, or research institutions.
  • Experience working with large imaging datasets, computational imaging workflows, or cloud/on-premises scientific data infrastructure.

By joining Ramona, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Transform Life Sciences: Help bring breakthrough imaging technology to researchers working to accelerate biological discovery and drug development.
  • Commercialize New Technology: Play a direct role in introducing fundamentally new microscopy capabilities to the market.
  • Work with Leading Scientists: Collaborate with researchers across pharmaceutical, biotech, and academic organizations on challenging imaging applications.
  • Make a Visible Impact: Join at a stage where individual customer wins, market insights, and commercial execution can materially influence the company’s growth.
  • Grow with Ramona: Participate in our success through a competitive compensation package, including salary, variable compensation, and equity.
